St. Louis Planned Parenthood Sends 60th Patient to Emergency Room, Illustrating Need for Oversight

Less than a week after the U.S. Supreme Court nullified certain abortion safety laws, a medical emergency at the Planned Parenthood abortion facility in St. Louis, MO, has illustrated how women have been left in jeopardy by the nation’s High Court. It happened on Saturday, July 2, 2016, a heavy abortion day. Paramedics were photographed by pro-life activists as they removed a Planned Parenthood patient from the abortion facility and loaded her into an awaiting ambulance. Abortion workers and an armed security guard attempted to conceal the incident by holding up large brown tarps. This medical emergency represented the 60th time since 2009 that ambulances have been dispatched to the St. Louis Planned Parenthood to render aid to patients that Planned Parenthood was not equipped to provide. Planned Parenthood is currently the only abortion facility in Missouri. Provisions that were struck down by the Supreme Court last week included required hospital privileges for abortionists that must be maintained within 30 miles of their abortion facilities. Missouri has a similar law, and if that is eventually nullified, Missouri women will be left with few, if any, protections against substandard abortionists that cannot qualify for hospital privileges. “The situation is Missouri is bad enough without stripping away one of the only safety measures in place to protect women. If you don’t think they need protecting from quack abortionists, you have never heard of Kermit Gosnell, Steven Brigham, James Pendergraft, or any number of currently practicing abortionists that no concept of medical or ethical standards,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue. In response to a lawsuit filed by Operation Rescue, the...

Criminal Charges against Michigan’s Trunk Abortionist Roth Also Get His Former Boss in Trouble

Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette has criminally charged abortionist Michael Arthur Roth, 74, in two counties with possession of stolen drugs. The charges stem from the discovery of drugs — along with the remains of aborted babies — in the trunk of Roth’s vehicle during an investigation into his involvement in a traffic accident last October that critically injured a special-needs child. Roth has been booked on charges in two counties, both of which released him on $10,000 personal recognizance bonds. Schuette’s June 23, 2016, press release details the charges: Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette today charged West Bloomfield doctor Michael Arthur Roth, 74, with possession with intent to deliver schedule 2 narcotic Fentanyl, and 6 counts of identity theft in the 48th District Court. In the 38th District Court in Eastpointe, Roth also faces 3 counts of Larceny in a Building. The charges follow a September 2015 car accident where the drugs, as well as post-conception material, were discovered in Roth’s vehicle. Roth has also formally been charged with violating the Michigan public health code for illegally transporting the aborted baby remains. The Michigan Board of Medicine filed an administrative complaint against Roth last November seeking the revocation of his medical license for the same offenses. He faces possible revocation of his medical license if convicted of the criminal charges. Roth is accused of stealing the drugs from his former employer, Angel A. Ojeda, MD, who operates Eastland Women’s Clinic, a Detroit-area abortion facility. A medication aide employed at the facility admitted to helping Roth steal abortion instruments and drugs. But what was Roth doing with abortion drugs,...

36 Studies Involving 1 Million Women Show Abortion Linked to Premature Birth

Preterm birth is the leading cause of perinatal mortality in the U.S. and is emotionally and financially costly for families even when it does not prove fatal to the child. That there has been significant increase in preterm birth in the U.S. in the last forty to fifty years has made researchers curious as to whether there might be a connection to abortion, legalized in 1973. Science Daily (2/3/16) says “One reason to conduct the study is that the incidence of preterm births has been rising, and falling, in parallel to popularity of abortion, the vast majority of which, until late, have been surgical.” In the last several years, researchers have published multiple studies appearing to demonstrate such a link, but now comes a meta-analysis in a major medical journal which lends strong support to that conclusion. A mega-analysis has more predictive power because it combines the results from multiple studies–in this case 36 studies covering more than one million women. The study, “Prior uterine evacuation of pregnancy as independent risk factor for preterm birth: a systematic review and meta-analysis,” was published in the May 2016 issue of the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology. The authors are Vincenzo Berghella and Lisa Perriera, two researchers from Thomas Jefferson University (Philadelphia), and Gabriele Saccone, of the University of Naples Federico II in Italy. Berghella and his colleagues looked at 36 studies covering the cases of 1,047,683 women. They were looking for data that showed what happened in subsequent pregnancies after some form of “uterine evacuation”–that is, an “induced termination of pregnancy” (surgical or chemical abortion) or the use of some...

Women Using Abortion as Birth Control: 59% Already Had One Child, 33% Had Two Kids

Despite Americans’ opposition to the idea, some women have admitted to using abortion as a method of birth control. New abortion data hints that this disturbing trend could be continuing. According to a new report by the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute, more than half of women who had abortions between 2008 and 2014 already had at least one child. Here is more from the report: How individuals achieve their desired family size—including the timing and spacing of any births—is often part of a complicated calculus, and decisions regarding pregnancy outcomes are made in the context of existing and planned children.22,23 In 2014, it continued to be the case that the majority of abortion patients (59%) had had at least one previous birth, including one-third who had had two or more; 41% of abortion patients had had no prior births. These proportions were largely unchanged from 2008. Individuals with one previous birth were overrepresented among abortion patients (index of 1.5), while those with either no prior births or at least two were slightly underrepresented (0.9 and 0.8, respectively). Abortion indices by number of previous births showed virtually no change between 2008 and 2014. The reasons why these women had abortions were not reported; but, as the pro-abortion researchers implied, the abortion industry sells abortion as a means for women to “achieve their desired family size.” Repeat abortions also are startlingly common. According to Guttmacher, approximately 45 percent of women have multiple abortions. Though abortion advocates do not like to mention it, abortions can take a toll on the health of the mother and any subsequent children she may have. Studies have...

Commentary: What Words Sum Up Abortion? Unwanted. Unsafe. Unfair.

It’s actually easy to increase public awareness about abortion’s dangers because polls show that over 90% of people already believe that abortion causes moderate to severe emotional harm. Most people who believe abortion should be legal also believe it is an ugly experience. Yet, they tolerate abortion because they believe it can somehow improve women’s lives. They have heard this repeated over and over for years; but, they are also concerned about how abortion can hurt women. This means that the vast majority of the public is open to a deeper understanding of how harmful abortion really is. That is why it is so important to increase public awareness of both post-abortion trauma and post-abortion healing opportunities. Even the Supreme Court is Reading our Evidence Our studies are even impacting Supreme Court rulings, as happened in Gonzales v. Carhart, the Court’s last major ruling on abortion. Now our studies are before the Supreme Court again. They are being prominently cited in briefs defending the 2014 Texas law, known as HB2. In fact, in oral arguments last month, the Solicitor General of Texas told Justice Ginsburg to specifically look at the briefs citing our studies because they demonstrate “that abortion complications are under-reported.” Abortion is not safer than childbirth, a lie that Ginsburg has uncritically swallowed. We must continue to provide lawyers, judges and lobbyists with the medical research that exposes the lies and exaggerations of abortionists. Do you have a loved one who has struggled with a past abortion? Every week, thousands of women and men come to our web sites to learn more about how to find help...

Abortion Is Not Safer Than Giving Birth / Abortion-Maternal Death Record Linkage Analysis

In an attempt to prove abortion safer than childbirth, Vox compares two data points from the Centers for Disease Control that the CDC itself has said are not comparable. It’s understandable that pro-abortion advocates were eager to circulate a Vox video purporting to prove the safety of abortion last week [late April 2016]. After all, yet another abortion business was making headlines for unsanitary conditions and harm to patients, drawing attention to the need for enforcing the health and safety laws abortion proponents bitterly fight. But the attempted defense of abortion Vox’s Liz Plank offered may actually be worse than her attempt at humor with a “Knock, knock. Who’s there? Abortion” joke. Notably, before repeating the discredited myth that “abortion is safer than childbirth,” Plank admits a profound truth that abortion advocates generally avoid. By prefacing her arguments with the statement “if you only look at the safety of the mother,” she tacitly recognizes that abortion concerns the safety of two human beings. Abortion is always unsafe for the baby. (You know, that whole “crushing of body parts” that Plank displays annoyance over pro-lifers being “particularly vocal” about lately.) After acknowledging that pregnant women are, in fact, mothers, Plank alleges “abortion is actually safer than childbirth” by comparing two data points from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) that the CDC itself has said are not comparable. Maternal mortality and abortion mortality “measures are conceptually different and are used by CDC for different health purposes.” In other words, Plank peddles apples-to-oranges numbers as the basis of her claim. Abortion Is Much Riskier Than Birth Contrary to Plank’s attempt to...

Exposed: REAL Reason FDA Chemical Abortion Guidelines Changed

Visit http://www.physiciansforlife.org/exposed-abortion-pill-ru-486-mifepristone-mifeprex-whatever-they-call-it-it-harms-women-kills-babies/ to learn about the consequences of these recently ‘relaxed but reckless’ FDA Guidelines for Abortion Pill Use Main Article On March 30th, 2016, the FDA, under the guidance of the Obama administration, made big changes to the rules regarding the use of chemical abortions. Many on the pro-choice side are claiming this move was to expand women’s abortion access. However, in a new video series by Life Dynamics called The Real Story, President Mark Crutcher states that abortion clinics have been providing chemical abortions at one-third dosages for pregnancies that were well past the cut-off date since day one. He reveals that the real reason for the FDA’s decision was to protect abortion industry profits. FDA Smoke and Mirrors – the decision to protect abortion industry profits. (FDA chemical abortion) Mark Crutcher gives the real story behind the decision to change FDA chemical abortion guidelines in the video, The Real Story: FDA’s Strategy to Protect the Abortion Industry’s Profits   (see link  below) Crutcher adds that the abortion industry realized that smaller doses and performing them at much later stages of pregnancy is “a gold mine.” “One-third dosages increase profits, and using it past the specified cut off date grows the customer base.” But with such measures come increased risks and complications. Life Dynamics knows this perhaps better than anybody. For the past 20 years, the pro-life organization has been providing litigation support services to attorneys who sue on behalf of women who have been killed, injured or sexually assaulted while having abortions. Traditionally, incomplete abortions accounted for a small number of cases that they assisted with. But...

10 Reasons Women Should Be Pro-Life

In today’s society, if you’re female, you’re expected to be in favor of abortion. You’re practically an outcast if you confess your pro-life views, and to be pro-life, you often have to deal with people calling you anti-feminist. But this is one of the biggest lies that exists. Anyone who cares about women, who believes in women, or who is a woman, should without a doubt be against abortion. Here’s why… Abortion is an insult to all women. Telling a woman she needs to have an abortion is belittling. Anyone who says a woman is too young or that she can’t handle going to school and having a child, or working and having a child is telling her that she isn’t good enough, smart enough, or strong enough. “How is it ‘feminism’ to tell us that we are too irresponsible or lazy or ill-equipped to raise our children,” asks Kristen Hatten, Vice President of New Wave Feminists. “That we either need to abort or get the government to pay our way through life? That is the opposite of feminism. That is the opposite of empowerment.” 2. Pregnancy is empowering, abortion is not. Carrying your baby and giving birth while you’re going to school or working at your job or furthering your career is a feminist move. It’s also empowering to succeed when people are telling you that you can’t. You can love and care for your baby while you pursue other goals. Your children don’t have to suffer or die in order for you to succeed in other areas of your life. 3. Women are not sexual objects. This...

One Hour From Death: Abortion Patient Warns of Incompetence, Squalor at North Carolina ‘A Hallmark’ Abortion Shop

Recently women were encouraged by Planned Parenthood to #ShoutYourAbortion in an effort to de-stigmatize and normalize abortion. This was in response to … efforts to defund Planned Parenthood in the wake of shock videos released by the Center for Medical Progress showing callous remarks by its abortionists haggling over the price of aborted baby body parts, hoping to get top dollar. However, when I spoke to Amanda (not her true name) just three short weeks after her recent abortion, she didn’t feel like shouting – unless it was at the abortionist who maimed her during an abortion that couldn’t have been more traumatic if it had been done in the “back alley” or at Kermit Gosnell’s squalid “House of Horrors.” But Amanda’s abortion wasn’t done in a back alley. It was done at A Hallmark Women’s Clinic, a licensed abortion facility in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Her abortion was done by Melvin Lee Henderson, a licensed physician without a lengthy disciplinary record. But that’s not to say Henderson didn’t have problems. He retired from the practice of medicine in 1998 after back surgery and went into the restaurant/entertainment business, opening a “sports bar” in Fayetteville known as Docks at the Capitol. There were high hopes in the community that Docks, a restaurant, bar, and arcade, would anchor revitalization in that part of downtown, but slow service, bad food, and mismanagement soon led to financial difficulties. By mid-2010, Docks had closed. Employees picketed outside Henderson’s business seeking a month’s worth of back pay. News reports at the time indicated that Henderson owed “more than half a million dollars in federal and...

What About Prevention?

“An ounce of Prevention is worth a pound of Cure.” This past May, Karen Malec succumbed to her last bout with cancer. She had survived colon cancer as a young mother but a particularly virulent form of ovarian cancer took her life despite a valiant struggle. Karen was a great activist who challenged medical authorities and government agencies entrusted to advance medicine to tell the scientific truth known by scientists but denied to the public. She wanted women to know the truth of the abortion breast cancer link and that hormonal birth control caused cancer. Karen was President of the Abortion Breast Cancer Coalition from its inception in 1999. She created an informative web site that was encyclopedic in its breadth and depth. She was a teacher, and although she had no medical background, she did become an expert when it came to the medical literature about abortion’s link to breast cancer. She was also very knowledgeable about oral contraceptives as a known carcinogen for breast cancer. She never lost her outrage that although many in the scientific community knew that abortion and the Pill were linked to breast cancer, especially in young women, they were silent when it came to informing the public of these risks. For example, Karen and I both knew the results of the 2009 Dolle study which showed a 320% increase risk of an especially aggressive breast cancer in young women on the Pill. But Karen became angry and indignant that one of the co-authors was Louise Brinton, a National Cancer Institute authority who, despite having been part of a 2003 NCI Workshop, now...

After 3 Abortions: ‘I Face Depression, Put on 50 Pounds Overeating’ (2015)

Pro-choice author Eve Kushner interviewed a number of post-abortive women for a book she was writing. Most of the women she interviewed had had multiple abortions. What was striking about the testimonies is the pain that seems to be festering under the surface of so many of them, even the ones where the woman denied that they regretted their abortions. Here is one typical testimony: “Toni is a 23-year-old African-American with an easy smile. She makes frequent eye contact as she rattles off all the feelings she had about her abortions. Only gradually does a dissonance emerge between her animated gestures and her words. As she discusses the 3 abortions she had in the last 2 years – the most recent pregnancy ending 4 months ago – it turns out she is downright depressed. Toni conceals her unhappiness, hoping that if she focuses on the positive, her bothersome emotions will disappear.… “She explains that when she recalls her abortion experiences, ‘I’ll get deep feelings of sadness and confusion.’ The feelings, she adds, are ‘related to being pregnant and having an abortion.’ “Sometimes an event jogs her feelings. She notes, ‘I’ll be reading a magazine. It’s usually related to birth. I’ll think of how I could have had children, but I didn’t. Then that jars other things.’ “One night she came home to find her roommates watching an HBO special about abortion experiences. Her roommates felt moved by the story, but Toni became distraught. ‘I sat there bawling,’ she recalls. Afterword, the feelings lingered. The HBO special and the article may have been designed to elicit emotion, but Toni can...

Abortion Affects Siblings

Of the generations born after 1973, many have been killed by abortion, and many of those remaining, the survivors, are siblings of those who have been lost. I am such a survivor. I had not given much thought to the effect of having lost a brother to abortion but my arrival at The Survivors as their Training and Apologetics director corresponded with a national campaign put on by Silent No More. The initiative is called Healing the Shockwaves of Abortion. Each month they focus on a different aspect of the fallout of abortion, how it affects different groups of people who are connected with it: mothers, fathers, grandparents, families, friends, communities, abortion providers, pro-lifers. This month highlights sibling survivors. But do siblings really need healing? How could abortion possibly affect siblings, especially if they came after the abortion or did not even know about it? Dr. Philip Ney, a clinical child psychologist and psychiatrist who has for decades studied the effects of abortion on families would answer that question with a resounding yes! This topic felt like an onion of information, layer after layer of facts and insights and theories. It is my plan to continue to look into and to write about the complexities of this very real syndrome. I could focus on the correlation between abortion and child abuse. Or how abortion inhibits parental bonding with subsequent children. There are a myriad of discussions, but I would like to primarily focus on one aspect for today that I found insightful, convincing and something we as Christians should work to change. The distinction between being wanted and being...

Abortionist Performs Abortions Without Medical License

ABORTIONIST PERFORMS ABORTIONS WITHOUT MEDICAL LICENSE — The PA Health Dept is investigating whether a notorious abortion center operator is guilty of “regulatory violations” for allowing a doctor to perform abortions at his facilities without a valid medical license. Harvey W. Brookman is only permitted to treat himself and his family because he holds an “active-retired” medical license. However, Brookman, who has been sued for malpractice, has been performing abortions at State College Medical Services and at American Women’s Services in Erie. The abortion facilities are owned by S. Brigham, who was forced to give up his own medical license in PA [questionable medical practices]. Brigham owns a chain of Eastern seaboard abortion centers under the name American Women’s Services. Abortion Breast Cancer Link – Analysis of NCI Fact Sheet

National Cancer Institute Fact Sheet Analysis The Abortion – Breast Cancer Connection (ABC Link) National Physicians Center for Family Resources (NPC) April, 2002 • Overall tone of denial of abc link: “…it appears that there is no overall association between spontaneous or induced abortion and breast cancer risk, …”, even though, to date, 28 out of 37 studies worldwide and 13 out of 15 in the US report a positive association. • Confusion of induced and spontaneous abortion: These two terms appear together repeatedly, as if they are equivalent. Never is the proper equation of spontaneous abortion and miscarriage made; in fact, the word miscarriage never appears. Yet paradoxically, the “inability to separate induced from spontaneous abortions” is offered as a criticism of earlier studies on the abc link. • Misrepresentation of the published medical literature on the abc link: a) A key study on American women which relied on prospective medical records (Howe et al., 1989), and which found a significant abc link (overall RR = 1.9), is not cited at all, even though much more weight is given to data “from studies that collected data on abortion history before the breast cancers occurred”, and even though it is presented as a weakness that “Most of the early studies relied on self-reports of induced abortion”.b)  The study specifically funded by the NCI to examine the abc link (Daling et al., 1994), which study reported a significant overall link (RR = 1.5) and much higher risks for teenagers (RR = 2.5) and actually reported “RR = ∞” for teenagers with any family history of breast cancer, is not cited at all.c) The only comprehensive...

Possible Complication for Future Children: Why Prior Abortions Can Raise Autism Risk

Why Prior Abortions Can Raise Autism Risk In 1999, Professor Larry Burd & colleagues reported that women with prior induced abortions had a three times higher risk of delivering a newborn later diagnosed with autism.1 In the 1960s, the U.S. autism rate for newborns was approximately 1 in 10,000, but the rate skyrocketed to 1 in 110 in 2009 according to the Centers for Disease Control. Is it biologically plausible that prior maternal induced abortions elevate a newborn baby’s autism risk? In a word, yes. This is because of two mechanisms — preterm birth (very preterm and extremely preterm) and raised paternal age at delivery. Six significant studies report that prior induced abortions boost extremely preterm birth risk (under 28 weeks’ gestation). Extremely preterm babies have about 25 times the autism risk as do full-term (at least 37 weeks’ gestation) babies.2 The older the parents are at delivery, the higher the autism risk. In a 2001 study of French women, Dr. Henriet reported that French women with more than one prior induced abortion had 2.4 times (i.e. 140% higher) the risk of maternal age over 34 at delivery compared to women with zero prior induced abortions.3 Michael Ganz estimates that the lifetime cost (medical costs + non-medical costs + reduced income) of a U.S. newborn with autism to be $3.2 million.4 Should abortion providers wait for “conclusive” proof of the abortion-autism risk before warning women of a possible increased autism risk? My understanding of U.S. law is that patients must be warned of a serious adverse risk of a treatment for which there is credible evidence (“credible” evidence is...

Women Have a RIGHT to Know: Abortion Increases Risk of Severe Mental Health Problems (BJP, 2011)

Women Should be Told of Abortion-Mental Health Link Risks Largest Ever Study Finds Abortion Increases Risk of Severe Mental Health Problems by 81%…     Women Should be Told of Abortion-Mental Health Link Risks An organization for women who regret their abortions and leaders of pro-life groups are hailing a new study confirming that abortion causes a number of mental heath risks for women. A new study published in the British Journal of Psychiatry by leading American researcher Dr. Priscilla Coleman of Bowling Green State University finds women who have an abortion face almost double the risk of mental health problems as women who have their baby. Coleman’s study is based on an analysis of 22 separate studies which, in total, examine the pregnancy experiences of 877,000 women, with 163,831 women having an abortion. The study also indicated abortion accounts for one in ten of every adverse mental health issue women face as a whole. Leaders of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, the world’s largest network of women and men harmed by abortion, say that the report validates what many post-abortive women already know. “This is not just another study.  It’s historic,” Silent No More co-founder Georgette Forney told LifeNews. “It combines the results of 22 studies conducted over a 14-year period in six countries involving 877,181 women.  And it confirms what Silent No More members have been saying all along – abortion harms women.” “The cruelty of those who lie to pregnant women about abortion’s impact is compounded by the heartlessness of abortion industry propagandists who dismiss post-abortive women’s pain as non-existent.  After this enormous scientific study,...

Possible Adverse Effects of Abortion II: Breast Cancer, Subsequent Preterm Birth (11/2010)

Just as Tobacco Industry Denied Scientific Evidence for Decades, So Now the Abortion/Pharmaceutical Industries Deny Mounting Breast Cancer Link Readers of our newsletter know that use of oral contraceptives (the birth control pill) has been implicated as a risk factor for breast cancer by: 1) the World Health Organization; 2) a 2006 meta-analysis in the journal, Mayo Clinic Proceedings; and 3) a 2009 study in the journal, Cancer Epidemiology Biomarkers and Prevention, which linked the pill with the deadly triple-negative breast cancer [1-4] Our readers are also aware that National Cancer Institute branch chief Dr. Louise Brinton was a co-author in that 2009 study and that she and her colleagues had included in their study both abortion and the pill as "known and suspected risk factors" for the disease. [4] They concluded in unambiguous terms that abortion and [so-called] oral "contraceptives" were associated with the disease and that their results "were consistent with the effects observed in previous studies on younger women." Approximately four dozen epidemiological studies, biological evidence and animal research implicate abortion as a risk factor for the disease. [4-15] Planned Parenthood, nevertheless, remains steadfast in its denial of these cancer risks. It is behaving in much the same way that the anti-science tobacco industry did during the last half of the 20th century. The Dayton Daily News reported yesterday that a panel of three physicians told an audience at a conference on November 13, 2010 in Oakwood, Ohio that the pill puts women at risk for breast cancer. Lou Grieco, a reporter for that newspaper, quoted Becki Brenner, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Southwest...

Keys to Ending Maternal Mortality: From the Experts (2010)

From the Experts: The Keys to Ending Maternal Mortality Two experts on maternal mortality spoke at a congressional briefing on Tuesday sponsored by U.S. Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ), a pro-life and human rights leader, explaining the global decline in maternal deaths and why life-affirming maternal care, not abortion, is a practical solution. According to the World Health Organization, maternal conditions contributed to 1.9 percent of the world’s total deaths in 2004. While the death of the mother is already a tragedy, the tragedy is compounded many times over in societies where mothers take up much of the burden in care-giving for the extended family and members of the community. “We desire to reduce, if not eliminate, preventable maternal mortality,” said Dr. Bob Scanlon, an obstetrician associated with Maternal Life International who worked and trained maternal health care workers in Africa. “Pregnant women – be they in the United States or in Africa – face similar medical problems related to pregnancy and childbirth,” said Scanlon, reflecting on his 10 years of experience in Africa, where he repaired obstetric fistula, delivered babies, and trained maternal health care workers. “I am a board certified obstetrician; my training has taught me why women die in childbirth and how to prevent such problems,” he continued. “I understand what the medical community has known for years: pregnant women die from bleeding, infections, obstructed labor and hypertensive disorders.” Scanlon said that women in third world nations with high maternal mortality need skilled maternal health care workers trained in safe birthing practices, improved basic medical care, access to education, and retroviral drugs if they are HIV-positive. He...

Teen Suicide / Suicide Trends Among U.S. 10-24 Year Olds, 1990-2004

Suicide Trends Among Youths and Young Adults Aged 10–24 Years — United States, 1990–2004 In 2004, suicide was the third leading cause of death among youths and young adults aged 10–24 years in the United States, accounting for 4,599 deaths (1,2). During 1990–2003, the combined suicide rate for persons aged 10–24 years declined 28.5%, from 9.48 to 6.78 per 100,000 persons (2). However, from 2003 to 2004, the rate increased by 8.0%, from 6.78 to 7.32 (2), the largest single-year increase during 1990–2004. To characterize U.S. trends in suicide among persons aged 10–24 years, CDC analyzed data recorded during 1990–2004, the most recent data available. Results of that analysis indicated that, from 2003 to 2004, suicide rates for three sex-age groups (i.e., females aged 10–14 years and 15–19 years and males aged 15–19 years) departed upward significantly from otherwise declining trends. Results further indicated that suicides both by hanging/suffocation and poisoning among females aged 10–14 years and 15–19 years increased from 2003 to 2004 and were significantly in excess of trends in both groups. The results suggest that increases in suicide and changes in suicidal behavior might have occurred among youths in certain sex-age groups, especially females aged 10–19 years. Closer examination of these trends is warranted at federal and state levels. Where indicated, health authorities and program directors should consider focusing suicide-prevention activities on these groups to help prevent suicide rates from increasing further. Annual data on suicides in the United States during 1990–2004 (1) were obtained from the National Vital Statistics System via WISQARS™ (2) by sex, three age groups (i.e., 10–14, 15–19, and 20–24 years), and...

If a Woman is Not Emotionally Ready to Have a Baby…

This report lists older studies from the 1980s listing the adverse effects of abortion on women.   …What Makes People Think She's Emotionally Ready to Abort One? Behind every abortion decision there is a woman. In the furious search to justify abortion many people have tried to say that this procedure is safer than childbirth.. This simply is not true. [Record based studies from Sweden and California have shown that abortion is 2-3 times more dangerous than childbirth.] The fact is that the psychological dangers of abortion far surpass the psychological changes of childbirth and the physical comparisons are uneven. The World Health Organization (WHO) defines health as "a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." According to this definition, it is clear that the medical procedure of elective abortion, the deliberate disruption of a normal biological process, does not promote or protect the health or the patient. Dr. Vincent Rue, one of the nation's leading Post-Abortion Syndrome (PAS) therapists, has reviewed approximately 239 studies (one which contained a sample group of 97,000 women) on the psychological effects of abortion. He has conclusively demonstrated that there is a greater risk for psychiatric hospitalization and or psychological damage to women who undergo abortion procedures compared to women who deliver their children. These studies show that anywhere from six percent to 55 percent of aborted women suffer from PAS. Because of the denial that is so common with PAS, wictims may suffer from 5 to 10 years or more before they realize that their past abortion experience is the root cause of...
