Responses – Ideas To Promote Life

Signs of Closure

Of the 64 abortion facilities that have closed following a 40 Days for Life campaign, many had given signs that things weren’t going so well inside. One sign is seeing moms turn around and choose life. Babies saved equals money lost to the abortion industry. Another sign is adjusting business hours … or even closing for the day. That has been the case in Norman, Oklahoma. There are just two abortion facilities left in the entire state. Oklahoma City’s abortion business recently closed … and the campaign in nearby Norman expanded. I visited there this week and the enthusiastic local leader, Connie, greeted me by saying, “They’re closed today … and this is their normal abortion day! This has never happened!” 40 Days for Life campaigns are bad for abortion businesses … and your presence has a huge impact – more than you know! Flint, Michigan “Does anybody else experience this?” asked one of the 40 Days for Life volunteers in Flint. “You signed up to pray one hour, and it is a rare day when the abortion facility is closed … and you are thinking you haven’t done anything tangible in that hour. Well, it never fails that two minutes before the shift is over, God sends a car.” This particular car had a young couple in the front and three little kids in the back. The man wanted to know if that was an abortion facility, and he really wanted to talk about post-abortion effects. He explained that he was in the army, and had seen how abortion had a profound impact on his fellow soldiers and...

Pregnancy Centers Go ‘Express’ to Reach Women Targeted by Planned Parenthood Mega Centers

Pregnancy help centers are focused on one main goal: helping women and girls who are facing unexpected pregnancies. Many of these women are dealing with pressure to abort their babies based on either financial circumstances or their young age, and sometimes both. But pregnancy help centers and life-affirming medical clinics are there to help by providing resources, access to medical care, ultrasounds, and even baby gear. However, these life-affirming centers often face an uphill battle when it comes to reaching the girls and women who are most in need of their services. In order to overcome those obstacles, many centers have re-imagined the plans they’ve put in place. They have needed to figure out a way to reach into the communities where women are most vulnerable to abortion, and do it within their extremely tight budgets. Despite the challenges, CareNet Pregnancy Services of DuPage, Ill., has succeeded at doing just that. Tweet This: #Prolifers reaching women in shadow of #PPact mega-center. #abortion #DefundPP #Illinois #Minnesota “The biggest barrier to reaching more women and creating more centers out there is overhead. That’s a big part of it,” Barbara Singer, the organization’s executive director, said. “If we could cut our expenses in half or even less and reach into areas that we have not been able to reach into before, that would make a big difference. “What we’re trying to reach into is high impact, like across from a college or high school or a downtown area where you’ve heard there’s a lot of need. Space is not available or it’s so expensive you can’t possibly get in there. But with...

40 Days for Life and Other Events for Life Continue to Raise Awareness about the Planned Parenthood – Abortion Link

Planned Parenthood is in the ‘hot seat’ again this week … as PP Pres Cecile Richards testified and was questioned by Congressional investigators about the harvesting and trafficking of aborted baby body parts, possibly without maternal consent. A recent poll showed that 50% of Americans still do NOT know that Planned Parenthood does abortions. That’s a frustrating statistic, since they are the largest abortion business in the United States. They abort more than 325,000 innocent American babies every year! However, you can do something about that! Here’s how three 40 Days for Life teams that hold their peaceful vigils outside Planned Parenthood facilities are drawing their communities into the campaign. Bloomington, Indiana Doctors for Life Rally “We are off to a great start!” said Monica in Bloomington. “We have no reports of babies saved … because we’re not even sure if they did abortions last week!” The business was closed several days. The Bloomington team did stage a major event outside Planned Parenthood – a Doctors for Life rally. About 200 people attended, Monica said, including “28 local physicians who put their names out there as being pro-life and committed to the protection of the unborn child. What an inspiration these doctors were to all of us!” Some of the doctors were photographed near a mobile help center that offers free pregnancy tests and ultrasounds. “As fruit from our 40 Days for Life campaigns, we announced that we are getting our own mobile unit, paid for by a generous donor,” Monica said. “We can’t wait to have it there regularly to help the women going in!” Poughkeepsie, New York...

Groups Launch GetYourCare.org to Help Patients Find Alternatives to Planned Parenthood

Pro-life organizations have launched a website to help women find real healthcare rather than visiting one of Planned Parenthood’s abortion facilities. The Daily Signal reports that the website, GetYourCare.org, features an interactive map that allows people to search for health care providers in their local area. The website says, “Women have real choices. All across America, thousands of low-cost health centers offer women and their families high-quality health care. The centers here are only the federal-funds eligible facilities – for now. Our team will be updating the interactive maps in coming weeks to include many more low-cost and free community clinics and private women’s health providers who accept Medicaid patients! See what’s available in your state.” The pro-life organization’s said the following about the website’s goal: “GetYourCare.org is a resource brought to you by the pro-women & pro-life movements of America. Our goal is to give women everywhere in America access to information about the thousands and thousands of quality health care options women have.” As LifeNews previously reported, the Charlotte Lozier Institute, the education arm of the Susan B. Anthony List, and Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) released a map showing the thousands of health care clinics in the United States that offer legitimate health care to women. The Daily Signal reports that the two pro-life organizations contend that there are many health care centers that should receive federal funding instead of Planned Parenthood. Follow LifeNews.com on Instragam for pro-life pictures and the latest pro-life news. Casey Mattox, senior counsel with ADF, explained, “What these graphics put into pictures is what the data has been telling us for a...

You Don’t Have to Wait for Lawmakers

We at Online for Life (OFL) applaud the efforts made by many organizations to defund Planned Parenthood. We must also be committed to making sure that abortion-determined women have a place to go where they can receive better, safer care in their time of need. Over the past five years, Online for Life has worked with a network of top-performing, life-affirming pregnancy centers across the country. The staffs of these centers are focused on supporting pregnant mothers in crisis with compassionate care throughout their pregnancy and beyond. We’ve also built an incredibly sophisticated national marketing system to connect abortion-determined women to one of these pregnancy centers. Support has even helped us to operate two of our own Women’s Care Clinics—one in Texas and the other in Pennsylvania—where we’re helping to rescue four to five times more babies from abortion than when we first started. Effectiveness continues to grow—and this fall, we’ll talk to more abortion-determined women than ever before. Increasing our online and offline advertising efforts to reach more women and men facing a crisis pregnancy is the key to making this happen. Strengthening the network of life-affirming pregnancy centers we work with to provide compassionate, life-affirming support to abortion-determined women and help them choose LIFE — we have already helped rescue 3,373 babies from abortion. Providing access to compassionate, life-affirming care alternatives for women and their preborn babies. … So Every Child Makes Their Mark [16 Sept 2015, Brian Fisher,...

If Planned Parenthood Were Defunded Tomorrow, Where Would Women Go for Help?

The good news is there are already 2,500+ life-affirming pregnancy help centers, both medical clinics and resource centers, not to mention help available through maternity homes and non-profit adoption agencies. These centers are serving women in cities, towns, and neighborhoods all over the USA so that no woman feels so alone or hopeless that she chooses to end her child’s life through abortion. Most pregnancy help centers offer medical services, including free ultrasound and pregnancy testing. A growing number of pregnancy centers offer free STI testing. Pregnancy centers do not make a profit from helping women in need and no one has ever died in a pregnancy center. Heartbeat International and our network of women-centered, lifesaving organizations is saving over 3,000 lives every week in the US alone. When you support pregnancy help with your time, talents, or finances, you are a vital part the real solution to the abortion problem plaguing our nation and our world. As Planned Parenthood continues to crumble, pregnancy centers will continue to need strengthening. Join us today as we work to make abortion unwanted now and unthinkable for future generations! Top 10 International Victories

During the summer of 2010, I felt called to lead a 40 Days for Life campaign in England. I was nervous, apprehensive and sceptical. Several years later, thanks to stepping out in faith, many hundreds of babies have been saved from abortion. 40 Days for Life has now been tried and tested in 30 countries around the world with a clear and proven track record of saving lives from abortion. The inspiring testimonies of 40 Days for Life and its rapid growth around the world should make you ask yourself a question: what would happen in your community if someone started a campaign there? If lives can be saved in all these communities, it can happen where YOU live. Here are 10 top victories around the world: 10. London – Abortion centre closes The Bedford Square BPAS closed its doors for good in 2014, following 3,000 hours of prayer and five 40 Days for Life campaigns. Many women who were scheduled for an abortion chose life for their babies over three years of campaigns in central London. One abortion worker remarked, “Your prayers are obviously working, because the girls aren’t keeping the appointments.” Each campaign, between 6-10 women who were scheduled for an abortion would choose life for their child. 9. Croatia – From one campaign to 17 40 Days for Life has been a huge success in Croatia. Ante Caljkusic first brought the campaign to Zagreb last year. Since his leap of faith, 40 Days for Life spread to 17 cities the next campaign, inspiring neighbouring countries to join the campaign as well! The campaign has been touching...

You’re Outraged at Planned Parenthood: 3 Things You Can Do

This week’s revelation that Planned Parenthood is actively marketing, selectively identifying and selling the body parts of pre-born children should enrage anyone. Anyone in the Pregnancy Help Community should be outraged—but not surprised. Planned Parenthood lives off abortion, in itself a gruesome crime against humanity. We should not be shocked when this organization simply exploits a related revenue stream. The question we face today is, “What shall we do?” Jay Hobbs, in his excellent piece on this topic, says this could be a tipping point. The abortion Goliath can be toppled. Now. But what do we do? What are a few reasonable action steps anyone in the pro-life community can take? We can’t all go to Washington. And because of obligations to our families and places of work, it can be difficult to take on expansive roles in this effort. Yet, there are three manageable action items any one of us can complete in literally minutes. Minutes, not hours. And each of these three could have a major impact on the future of Planned Parenthood, the future of the pro-life calling, and the future of those who are already turning this country toward valuing life once again. Three. Anyone. And we can shift a culture. Here they are, in ascending order: First, we need an investigation and the suspension of funding for Planned Parenthood Congress is already ramping up for an investigation, so half of this goal is complete. The other half? Any pro-life individual can write his or her congressional representative and ask that Planned Parenthood’s federal funding—more than $500 million each year–be suspended while the investigation plays...

Culture of Life Curriculum Set for Release

Now Available at www.all.org! In order to counteract the damage done through ‘comprehensive sex education”, American Life League has produced a supplemental curriculum to explain and promote the Culture of Life. This curriculum is now available and is designed to fit into any regular high school history, biology, literature, language, art, or music class. Each module is specifically crafted in such a way that any teacher, using any textbook, can pick up the materials and insert them into relevant segments of the class. For instance, any biology course that touches on human embryology wil be able to incorporate the embryology module from the Culture of Life Curriculum, teaching high schoolers about the truly amazing development of preborn persons, while helping them understand the dangers associated with identifying these precious tiny people as anything but fully dignified human persons. One of the hopes of this project is to help guide the course of high school education through extracurricular activities, pro-life clubs, the arts, and through the attitudes of the students. While the classroom is the best place to win the minds of the upcoming leaders for the culture of life, the focus of everything else is geared toward winning their hearts. Physicians Say ‘Don’t Count on Me’ for Abortions

A new video campaign features Chilean and Peruvian doctors affirming their respect for life saying “don’t count on me” to do abortions. The videos come in response to movements by both countries’ governments to legalize abortion. “If you are thinking we will perform abortions, don’t count on me, because in Chile no one is expendable,” says a Chilean doctor in a video that is part of the “Nadie Sobra” (No One is Expendable) movement. Abortion is currently banned in Chile, which also has one of the world’s lowest maternal mortality rates, however, President Bachelet has announced plans to amend the law. Peruvian doctors in another video also has a powerful message: “To care, respect and protect life is the essence of our profession. “The conceived baby, whether planned or not, has the right to be born, and nobody has the right to suppress its life.” Peru’s campaign, “As Innocent as You”, coincided with Congress’ consideration of legislation to increase access to abortion, which was ultimately defeated. NAPN: A Voice for Pro-Life Nurses

In 1995, during the U.S. Senate debate on the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act, Sen. Barbara Boxer (D. California) read into the record a letter from Geri Marrullo, then-executive director of the American Nurses Association, in opposition to the proposed ban on Partial-Birth Abortion. The ANA claimed to be “the only full-time professional organization representing the nation’s 2.2 million registered nurses.” While investigating the ANA’s exclusive claim to represent the nation’s RNs to the U.S. Senate, it was discovered that though there were 2.2 million RNs at the time, and the ANA is exclusively RNs, only 190,000 nurses were actually members; only 9% of U.S. nurses. In 2011, there were 3.1 million nurses, and only 180,000 nurses were members, or about 6%. RN Magazine, the mainstream nursing journal, did a survey in 1999, showing that nearly 2/3 of nurses surveyed thought that partial-birth abortion should be prohibited by law. [Marissa Ventura RN, Aug. 16, 2002, “Ethics on the Job: Where Nurses Stand on Abortion.”] In response to the ANA’s position against a ban, a unique and separate professional nurses organization, the National Association of Pro-Life Nurses stepped forward and, in 2000, submitted a Friend of the Court brief in Stenberg v. Carhart, supporting a ban on partial birth abortion. In 2003, NAPN nurses gathered nurses’ signatures on a national petition, which was submitted to the U.S. Congress, also to ban the procedure. All nurses can appreciate the gains that the ANA has accomplished in making nursing more professional and patient care more effective. This is what we want and expect from a full-time professional association. If the ANA was only...
