Ultra-Feminist Founder of Femen Brazil Declares Herself Pro-Life, Apologizes

Sara Winter once bared her chest for Femen. Now she’s fighting for the unborn Sara Fernanda Giromin first made herself known to Brazil and to the world under the alias “Sara Winter” in 2012, when she became the founding member of Femen Brazil, and led a trio of girls in a number of topless protests that garnered much media attention. However, only three years later, the young activist has done an about-face and has declared war on feminism and abortion, and is apologizing to Christians for her offensive behavior. She has also published a short book detailing the abuse and disappointment she suffered at the hands of fellow feminists. Giromin’s changing attitudes were first revealed in October of this year, when she expressed her repentance for an abortion that took the life of her first child, and acknowledged that the recent birth of her second child had changed her attitudes regarding the right to life. “I have repented of having had an abortion and today I ask for forgiveness,” wrote Giromin. “Yesterday marked one month after the birth of my baby and my life has taken on a new meaning. I’m writing this while he sleeps serenely on my lap. It is the greatest sensation in the world.” “Please, women who are desperate to abort, think carefully about it. I was very sorry I did it. I don’t want the same for you,” she added. In the months that have followed, Giromin has revealed to her readership her disillusionment with feminism and gender ideology, and has repudiated her “bisexual” orientation. She has also expressed remorse for having offended Christians...

Commitment vs. Togetherness

James Wilson noted that, “Scholars increasingly regard cohabitation as a substitute to being single, not an alternative to marriage.” So what is it that makes marriage so much different than living together with the person you love? Science has shown that married couples have a consistently higher level of happiness than couples who are cohabiting. This is likely because expectations are the same for a marriage-portrait.jpg husband and wife since there is a mutual commitment to each other for the future. As some scholars say, cohabitation is the oxymoron of an “ambiguous commitment.” When a man and woman live together before marriage, it is simply togetherness rather than commitment. Marriage provides a foundational commitment that will bind the couple together in many beneficial ways for years to come. UN Report Pushes Gender as a Social Construct, Not Based in Nature

An advisory report on the protection of human rights in the context of counter terrorism recently submitted to the United Nations (UN) General Assembly (GA) includes a radical redefinition of the term “gender,” claiming that it is a purely social construct not connected to biology. UN Special Rapporteur Martin Scheinin was asked to report to the UN on “gender-based human rights abuses in counterterrorism measures” – with an intended focus presumably upon hardships encountered by women caught up in the war on terror. Instead, in his report, Scheinin asserted “Gender is not synonymous with women but rather encompasses the social responsibilities that underlie how women’s and men’s roles, functions and responsibilities, including in relation to sexual orientation and gender identity, are defined and understood.” Labeling gender a “social construct,” the non-binding submission claims that “gender is not static,” but rather “changeable over time and across contexts.” Readers are told that “understanding gender as a social and shifting construct rather than as a biological and fixed category is important because it helps identify the complex and inter-related gender-based human rights violations caused by counterterrorism measures.” Such a definition of gender has been bitterly debated in formal UN settings for years and has been rejected repeatedly by member states in negotiated UN documents. There is a longtime tension on this question between the sovereign states of the GA and the UN bureaucracy. Even though the GA has repeatedly defined gender in a traditional way, the Office of the Special Adviser on Gender Issues and Advancement of Women defines gender, similar to this new bureaucratic report, as a social construct. The Rome...

New UN Head Says Homosexuality ‘Not Acceptable’

In an interview prior to his first address, the UN General Assembly’s new president said that homosexuality is “not really acceptable.” Ali Abdussalam Treki, a veteran diplomat from Libya, was responding to a journalist’s question about his position on the UN’s “Declaration for the Universal Decriminalisation of Homosexuality” at a press conference prior to the opening of the 64th session of the General Assembly. “It is a very thorny argument,” he said. “As a Muslim, I do not agree with it. My opinion is not in favor of this matter at all. “I believe it is not acceptable for most of the world, and it is totally unacceptable for our tradition and religion. And there are some countries that allow that, thinking it is a kind of democracy … I think it is not,” he added. The response of the international homosexualist movement was swift, with one group saying that Treki’s comment was contrary to the principles of the founding Charter of the United Nations. The International Lesbian & Gay Association (ILGA), one of the leading international homosexualist lobby groups, this week issued a statement demanding an explanation from Treki for his “failure to consider the protection of the life and safety of lesbians, gay men, trans, intersex and bisexual people all over the world.” ILGA continued: “The worrying and serious implications of this attitude, coming from the new head of an institution which is supposed to regard human rights – all human rights – as the most sacred value, cannot be overstated.” The UN declaration was opposed by a group of Arab countries and was signed only by...

UN Committee Asserts Special Rights for ‘Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity’

A UN human rights committee recently told UN member states they must grant broad new human rights on the basis of “sexual orientation and gender identity” by making sweeping changes to their national laws, policies and changing practices and attitudes within families and cultural institutions, or else they will be in “violation” of their obligations under international law. The document, called “General Comment 20,” was released on July 2nd by the committee responsible for monitoring compliance with the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. Going well beyond putting an end to criminal penalties against homosexuality or stopping violence and unjust discrimination, it claims that two new anti-discrimination categories exist even though sovereign states have repeatedly rejected these same categories in open UN debates. In those debates, nations expressed concern that since the terms “sexual orientation and gender identity” are not recognized or defined in international law, the new category could be used to impose limitations on freedoms of speech, religion and conscience as well as marriage laws and school curricula. Indeed, the committee asserts that changes must include “a State’s constitution, laws and policy documents,” as well as “measures to attenuate or suppress conditions that perpetuate discrimination” including “employment in educational or cultural institutions,” as well as “families, workplaces, and other sectors of society.” Measures must remain in place until such a time “when substantive equality has been substantially achieved.” No definition of or standards for measuring “substantive equality” are provided. The non-discrimination article says that states party to the treaty agree to “guarantee that the rights enunciated in the present Covenant will be exercised without discrimination...

Study: Homosexuals Twice as Likely to Seek Mental Health, Substance Abuse Treatment / AIDS Rate 50 Times Higher in Homosexual Men

A study led by Susan Cochran and her team of researchers from the University of California, Los Angeles, published in the open access journal BMC Psychiatry, reports that homosexuals seek treatment for mental health issues or substance abuse at a rate over two times higher than heterosexuals. The study of 2074 people interviewed in the California Health Interview Survey found that 48.5% of homosexual and bisexual individuals reported receiving psychiatric or drug abuse treatment in the past year as compared to 22.5% of heterosexuals. When the research results were broken down by gender, the report states that lesbians and bisexual women received the most medical treatment and heterosexual men received the least. “It is well known that health services utilization is greater among women generally,” Cochran commented. “Here we have shown that minority sexual orientation is also an important consideration. Lesbians and bisexual women appear to be approximately twice as likely as heterosexual women to report having received recent treatment for mental health or substance use disorders.” Cochran concludes that, “The pervasive and historically rooted societal pathologizing of homosexuality may contribute to this propensity for treatment by construing homosexuality and issues associated with it as mental health problems.” However, critics of the accepted secular interpretation that mental illness in homosexuals is due to discrimination have pointed out that in countries where homosexuality has been “normalized”, the numbers of homosexuals seeking medical intervention for a wide range of mental and medical conditions including major depression, suicidal ideation and attempts, anxiety disorders, and substance abuse, are virtually the same as reported in the California study. Homosexuals in the United States and...

D.C. Court Rules ‘Sexual Orientation’ Protection Laws Must Include Former Homosexuals / Little Recognition Given To Study of Sexual Reorientation Therapy at APA Convention

U.S. Court Rules ‘Sexual Orientation’ Protection Laws Must Include Former Homosexuals PFOX calls for all sexual orientation laws and programs nationwide to include former homosexuals In a case that is the first of its kind, a federal court has ruled that laws prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation in the District of Columbia must also include former homosexuals as a protected class. The Superior Court of the District of Columbia has ruled that under the D.C. Human Rights Act, a former homosexual must have the same protections as an active homosexual against discrimination based on sexual orientation. The decision handed down by Judge Maurice Ross says that the D.C. Office of Human Rights (OHR) was wrong to dismiss the discrimination complaint of “Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays” against the National Education Association (NEA) on the basis that ex-homosexuals were not covered by the HRA’s anti-discrimination protections, because they were no longer practicing homosexuals. “We are gratified that the ex-gay community in Washington D.C. now has the same civil rights that gays enjoy,” said Regina Griggs, executive director of Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays & Gays. PFOX had filed a discrimination complaint to the OHR after the national teachers union had refused to give the group a booth at the NEA’s EXPO 2002 convention in Dallas, Texas. The NEA which is headquartered in D.C., where PFOX filed its application, said it had a policy against giving accommodations to groups which are against NEA policy or which it believes would have a disruptive effect. Although the DC Human Rights Act prohibits discrimination based on “sexual preference,” “sexual orientation,” “gender identity,” and...

[Homosexual] Sex is Downright Dangerous, and Abstinence Won’t Kill You: I Should Know – Commentary

[Note: David MacDonald is a singer/artist who recently revealed that prior to his conversion he had been heavily involved in the gay lifestyle. Read his testimony here: http://www.GayTestimony.com ] I hate to quote statistics, but Canada’s largest homosexual paper XTRA recently reported that, “A group of six Canadian queers is taking on homophobia in Canada’s healthcare system by filing a complaint with the Canadian Human Rights Commission.” Gens Hellquist, one of the complainants, is the executive director of the Canadian Rainbow Health Coalition. She explained at length her concerns about the health status of homosexual men and women in Canada, observing: “We have one of the poorest health statuses in this country … Health issues affecting queer Canadians includes lower life expectancy than the average Canadian, suicide, higher rates of substance abuse, depression, inadequate access to care and HIV/AIDS.” “There are all kinds of health issues that are endemic to our community,” Hellquist continued. “We have higher rates of anal cancer in the gay male community, lesbians have higher rates of breast cancer … the reality is there is (sic) more GLBT people in this country who die of suicide each year than die from AIDS, there are more who die early deaths from substance abuse than die of HIV/AIDS. … Now that we can get married everyone assumes that we don’t have any issues any more. A lot of the deaths that occur in our community are hidden, we don’t see them. Those of us who are working on the front lines see them and I’m tired of watching my community die.” This seemed amazing to me, given...

Homosexual High School Clubs Increase Risk of Suicide, Say Parents, Friends

Quoting a recent study, Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays & Gays (PFOX) is warning of the increased risk of suicide that is linked with young people who identify themselves as homosexuals before achieving full maturity – a process encouraged by many homosexual high school clubs. The Washington Post recently ran a sympathetic article about a 15-year-old boy named Saro who described his homosexual feelings and how Gay Straight Alliance student clubs help such gay teens to deal with discrimination and bullying in high school and middle school. “What the article failed to describe,” said PFOX Executive Director Regina Griggs, “is the danger of young sexually confused teens self-identifying as gays at an early age. Research has shown that the risk of suicide decreases by 20% each year that a person delays homosexual or bisexual self-labeling. “Early self-identification is dangerous to kids. Schools should not be encouraging teens to self-identify as gays, bisexuals or transgendered persons before they have matured. Sexual attractions are fluid and do not take on permanence until early adulthood. “Rather than affirming teenagers as ‘gay’ through self-labeling, educators should affirm them as people worthy of respect and encourage teens to wait until adulthood before making choices about their sexuality. “If teens are encouraged to believe that they are permanently ‘gay’ before they have had a chance to reach adulthood, their life choices are severely restricted and can result in depression.” Griggs also notes that schools with Gay Straight Alliance clubs are notorious for suppressing ex-gay organizations or individuals supporting tolerance for the ex-gay community. “GSA clubs and their teacher sponsors make schools unsafe for anyone who...

AIDS in Uganda: Let My People Go, AIDS Profiteers!

The President’s Emergency Plan for HIV-AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) has been mired in the Senate for months. Last week finally brought signs that a vote, and passage, could be near. The program would cost $50 billion — that’s $165 from each American to fight AIDS, or $1.3 billion from New York City alone. But will the money allocated for AIDS stop the spread of the virus in sub-Saharan Africa, where 76 percent of the world’s HIV-AIDS deaths occurred last year? Not if the dark dealings I’ve witnessed in Africa continue unchecked. In the fight against AIDS, profiteering has trumped prevention. AIDS is no longer simply a disease; it has become a multi-billion dollar industry. In the late 1980s, before international experts arrived to tell us we had it all “wrong,” we in Uganda devised a practical campaign to prevent the spread of HIV. We recognized that population-wide AIDS epidemics in Africa were driven by people having sex with more than one regular partner. Therefore, we urged people to be faithful. Our campaign was called ABC (Abstain, or Be Faithful, or use Condoms), but our main message was: Stick to one partner. We promoted condoms only as a last resort. Because we knew what to do in our country, we succeeded. The proportion of Ugandans infected with HIV plunged from 21 percent in 1991 to 6 percent in 2002. But international AIDS experts who came to Uganda said we were wrong to try to limit people’s sexual freedom. Worse, they had the financial power to force their casual-sex agendas upon us. PEPFAR calls for Western experts to work as equal partners...

Eminent Psychiatrist: Homosexuality is a Disorder that Can Be Cured

The eminent Spanish psychiatrist Enrique Rojas gave a speech yesterday in Buenos Aires declaring that homosexuality is “a clinical process that has an etiology, pathogeny, treatment, and cure”. Speaking at the Buenos Aires International Book Fair about his book “Goodbye, Depression”, Rojas characterized homosexual orientation as a “disorder” rather than an illness, and stated his opinion that 95% of cases are caused by environmental factors, according to the Spanish news service Terra. The disorder, according to Rojas, is the result of an absent father, overweening mother, or sexual abuse in childhood. Rojas blasted the homosexual movement for promoting the development of homosexual tendencies in young people, and particularly condemned the practice of allowing homosexual couples to adopt children. The child is deprived of a right to grow up “in a normal environment, heterosexual, which is the standard” he said. “Heterosexuality is what is normal, the natural condition of human beings.” According to studies from the United States, Canada, and New Zealand, there is a 70-80 percent chance that a child adopted by homosexuals will develop the same tendencies, Rojas said. Rojas is the author of various books on psychology, including “Who Are You?”, “The Light Man” and “Remedies for Coldness”. [5/1/08, M.C. Homosexual Sex Can Kill

“In light of the irrefutable medical facts, it should be considered criminally reckless for educators to teach children that homosexual conduct is a normal, safe and perfectly acceptable alternative form of sexual expression (or ‘sexual orientation’).” Commentary by J. Matt Barber Can you imagine officials at a middle school, junior high or high school setting aside a day to promote “tolerance” for heavy smoking and drinking among children? How about a day where teachers encourage kids to “embrace who they are,” pick up that crack pipe and give it a stiff toke? Neither can I. The public would go ballistic, and for good reason. But that hasn’t stopped officials in thousands of schools across the country from promoting other politically correct and socially “in-vogue” behaviors that – both statistically and manifestly – are every bit as dangerous as the aforementioned frowned-upon behaviors. That’s exactly what the homosexual activist “Day of Silence” is all about – advancing, through clever, feel-good propaganda, full acceptance among children of the homosexual lifestyle. Just the Facts Ma’am By recently admitting that “HIV is a gay disease,” Matt Foreman, outgoing Executive Director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, acknowledged what the medical community has known for decades: the homosexual lifestyle is extremely high-risk and often leads to disease and even death. In fact, multiple studies have established that homosexual conduct, especially among males, is considerably more hazardous to one’s health than a lifetime of chain smoking. To the consternation of “gay” activist flat-earthers and homosexual AIDS holocaust deniers everywhere, one such study – conducted by pro-homosexual researchers in Canada – was published in...

Top Level Massachusetts Official/Homosexual Activist Charged with Sexual Battery of Young Teen

Carl Stanley McGee, 38, a top-level aide in the administration of Massachusetts governor Deval Patrick has been charged with sexually assaulting a 12-15 year old boy. The incident occurred in late December, but has only been made public in the past several days. McGee allegedly assaulted the boy at a resort on the Gulf Coast in Florida, the prestigious Gasparilla Inn & Club. The day after meeting the boy at the resort and exchanging a few words with him, McGee allegedly entered the steam room where the boy was sitting, removed the boy’s towel, massaged his shoulders, and performed [sexual acts] on him. The victim subsequently told his father about the incident, who then reported McGee to the police. McGee was arrested, held overnight and released on $300,000 bond. According to reports McGee, whose makes approximately $115,000/year, has been put on unpaid leave, and still officially retains his position, pending trial. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Lee County, Florida next week. McGee is the assistant secretary of policy and planning in the Massachusetts Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development. Besides being one of the leading figures in the push for homosexual marriage in Massachusetts, he has also reportedly been instrumental in the drafting of Governor Patrick’s life science legislation. Patrick’s life science efforts seek, amongst various other things, to overturn former governor Mitt Romney’s prohibition on embryonic stem cell research, and to pour millions of dollars into the unethical research. McGee has been heavily involved in the organization MassEquality, the primary mission of which is to introduce same-sex “marriage” into Massachusetts. MassEquality also states on its...

Sperm Donor Forced to Pay Child Support After Lesbian Couple Separate

A London firefighter who donated his sperm to allow a lesbian couple to conceive is being forced to pay thousands of pounds in child support now that the couple has broken up. Andy Bathie, 37, claims he was assured by the couple he would have no personal or financial involvement for the children, but has no legal grounds for the assurance because the donation did not go through a center licensed with the British Child Support Agency (CSA). Bathie says he is in shock and anger, and that the costs of child support for the two children born from the donation will prevent him from being able to afford having children with his wife. “I don’t have any particular ill will,” he said, “It’s the fact that I still even now don’t see why I should have to pay for another couple’s children.” But UK law does not yet recognize that they are not Bathie’s children. The law only tries to nullify the need for a biological father in the case of a licensed clinic, but ministers have drawn up reforms to the law giving equal parenting rights to same-sex couples who “marry.” A spokeswoman for CSA said: “Unless the child is legally adopted, both biological parents are financially responsible for their child – the Child Support Agency legislation is not gender or partnership based,” said a spokeswoman for the CSA said. Bathie has begun unprecedented court action to ensure he cannot be recognized as a legal parent to the children. “I would never have agreed to this unless they had been living as a committed family,” Bathie told...

UK AIDS Rate Third Highest in Europe

The UK’s Health Protection Agency (HPA) has issued a report saying that the HIV/AIDS crisis is ongoing among British homosexuals. The AIDS rate among British homosexuals rose 13 per cent in the last year according to recent statistics. This places Britain third in the rate of infection among European countries. A media release from the HPA says 73,000 adults are living with HIV in the UK, and of these, 7,093 people were diagnosed in 2006. 3,295 people were receiving treatment in 2006. Dr. Valerie Delpech, Head of HIV surveillance at the Agency said, “We are still seeing high levels of HIV transmission in gay men in whom we anticipate that there will have been just over 2,700 new diagnoses of HIV infection in 2006.” A regularly appearing theme in writing on the subject by AIDS activists is that HIV/AIDS is as easily transmissible among the “straight” population as among homosexuals. The response on the FAQ page of the website of Avert, an AIDS organisation based in Horsham, West Sussex, to the question, “Who is most affected by HIV/AIDS in the UK?” downplayed the predominance of HIV/AIDS among homosexuals. It said, “Of the estimated 33,600 heterosexuals, some 20,200 (60%) were women. The male to female ratio of HIV diagnoses made before 1989 was more than 10 to 1, whereas in 2005 the ratio for new diagnoses was around 3 male to 2 female.” To the question, “How are gay men in the UK affected by HIV and AIDS?” the response said blandly, “HIV is transmitted more easily through sex between men than it is through heterosexual sex.” “For this reason...

Clinical Psychologist Lists 5 Ways Same-Sex ‘Marriage’ Harms Children Psychologically

Same-sex marriage is one of the most controversial domestic issues in America. As a result, many professional organizations have stepped into the fray and taken formal positions with the hope of influencing public opinion and policy. One such group is the American Psychological Association (APA) that has officially endorsed the legalization of same-sex marriage. Many psychologists, however, including members of the APA, disagree with the organization’s pro-same- sex-marriage position. One of those dissenters is Trayce Hansen, Ph.D., a licensed clinical psychologist and former member of the APA, who opposes same- sex marriage on the grounds it will be detrimental to the children of same-sex couples as well as to other children who will be influenced by the all-types-of- marriage-are-equivalent social message. Dr. Hansen’s opposition to same-sex marriage is explained in her recently released opinion article titled “Love Isn’t Enough: Five Reasons Why Same- Sex Marriage Will Harm Children.” In the article she expounds on five reasons why it is in the best interest of children to be raised by a married mother and father: First, children require mother-love and father- love, both of which are equally important but qualitatively different. Second, children progress through certain developmental stages during which they need a mother, and other stages when they need a father. Third, children require an opposite-sexed parent to help them moderate their own gender-linked inclinations. Fourth, same-sex marriage will increase sexual uncertainty and sexual experimentation by young people. And finally, if same-sex marriage is permitted, then other types of marriages such as polygamous and polyamorous ones also would have to be allowed leading to more confusion in the lives...

‘Conclusive’ Report by American Association of Pediatrics on Homosexual Adoption Shown to be Inconclusive

Said to contain “major quotation and interpretive errors that … invalidate the conclusions in the article.” Over the past five years, Dr. Sharon Quick, a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and retired Clinical Assistant Professor from the Washington School of Medicine, has analyzed all of the major scientific literature that was used in the 2002 American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Technical Report on Same-Sex “Marriage” Adoptions. The final report was printed in the highly influential Pediatrics journal and concludes by supporting the adoption of children by homosexual and lesbian couples. In an Iowa court-case in late May, Dr. Quick gave her official testimony that the Technical Report “contains major quotation and interpretive errors that, irrespective of the quality of the studies cited, invalidate the conclusions in the article.” Many medical societies trust the accuracy of the AAP’s investigations and base their policies upon its reports. The report influenced the American Medical association, for example, to support the adoption of children by same-sex parents. The Report was also used as evidence in the Massachusetts legal battle over same-sex union and in United States Supreme Court cases as well. Dr. Sharon Quick discovered that the report inaccurately references an unprecedented 57 percent (57%) of its scientific literature. The list of grossly mis-gathered and misrepresented information reveals the bias and inaccuracy in the Technical Report. These errors spread through a Policy Statement (2002) and Special Article entitled, “The Effects of Marriage, Civil Union, and Domestic Partnership Laws on the Health and Well-Being of Children,” (2006) both printed in Pediatrics. The Special Article drew its information and conclusion almost entirely from...

MSM Have ‘Far Higher’ Risk of Eating Disorders

Homosexual and bisexual men may be at far higher risk for eating disorders than heterosexual men, according to a study conducted at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health. In the first population-based study of its kind, the researchers found that homosexual and bisexual men have higher rates of eating disorders. The findings are reported in the April 2007 issue of International Journal of Eating Disorders. Researchers Ilan H. Meyer, PhD, associate professor of clinical Sociomedical Sciences at the Mailman School of Public Health and principal investigator, and Matthew Feldman, PhD, of the National Development and Research Institutes and first author, surveyed 516 New York City residents; 126 were straight men and the rest were bisexual men and women. According to the study results, more than 15 percent of homosexual or bisexual men had at some time suffered anorexia, bulimia or binge-eating disorder, or at least certain symptoms of those disorders — a problem known as a subclinical eating disorder, compared with less than five percent of heterosexual men. In contrast, homosexual inclination did not seem to influence the risk of eating disorder symptoms among women. Just below 10 percent of lesbian and bisexual women and eight percent of heterosexual women had ever reported having a subclinical eating disorder. The study provides further evidence of the dangers involved with the homosexual lifestyle. LifeSiteNews.com reported in March about a study which demonstrated that practicing homosexual men with HIV are 90 times more likely than the general population to develop anal cancer. Other studies have found that in addition to eating disorders, homosexuals experience increased incidences of sexually transmitted diseases, cancer,...

‘Same Sex Marriage Harms Children’s Rights’, Marriage Symposium Hears

Louis DeSerres, co-founder of Preserve Marriage – Protect Children’s Rights, addressed the issue of harm to children’s rights resulting from same-sex marriage [symposium, Brigham Young University Law School, 15-16Sept06]. The ‘What’s The Harm? How Legalizing Same-Sex Marriage Will Harm Society, Families, Adults, Children and Marriage’ symposium was jointly sponsored by The Marriage and Family Law Project at Brigham University Law School and The Marriage Law Project at the Catholic University of America’s Columbus School of Law. DeSerres asked if there is a more natural and self evident birth right for a child than to have a mother and a father. More specifically, while nature creates every child with two biological parents, same-sex marriage leads to the creation of fatherless and motherless children, taking away one of the child’s natural parents. “Adult same-sex couples seeking the right to marry have relied on constitutional equality arguments in their court challenges,” he said. “It is noteworthy that not a single child has been represented in any of these court challenges to defend his right to a father and a mother, a right recognized in the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child.” He pointed out furthermore, that when children are discussed, the issue is relegated to family law, as if children do not enjoy the constitutional protection that adults enjoy. In time, the advantages gained by adults have started to seep into family law and children’s rights and best interests are being further marginalized. Man-woman marriage provides the child with many benefits, said DeSerres enumerating fourteen such benefits which are all lost with same-sex marriage. Some of the harms caused by...

Survey Finds Men Seek to Leave Homosexual Lifestyle to Heal Emotional Pain

Why would anyone with homosexual attractions try to “go straight”? According to conventional wisdom, the answer is inevitably “internalized homophobia” or societal pressure. But a new survey of almost 200 same-sex-attracted men who are pursuing change paints a very different picture: Out of 18 possible motivations listed in the survey, outside pressure was the least frequently cited motivating factor reported by the 189 survey respondents. The most frequently cited motivation was a desire to heal emotional hurts that respondents believe contributed to their same-sex attractions (SSA) to begin with. The desire to heal emotional pain was cited as a major motivator by 77% of respondents, compared to 22% who identified “outside pressure” as a major motivator. In fact, just 3% identified outside pressure as one of the three main reasons they were seeking change. The survey was conducted by People Can Change, a non-profit, non-religious self-help organization of men who have overcome unwanted homosexual attractions and who now support others who seek similar change. On average, each respondent identified 14 of the 18 factors as contributing to their desire to change. Other factors identified as major motivators include: – personal spirituality – 68% – desire for wife and children – 66% – religious teachings – 63% – desire for nonsexual male friendships -63% – conscience – 63% – expectation of unhappiness in gay life – 63%. Richard Wyler, a professional life coach who is the founder and executive director of People Can Change, summarized, “This survey indicates that same-sex- attracted men who seek change may be less influenced by outside pressure or shame than is generally assumed. Rather, they...
