Planned Parenthood, May 2016: New Orleans PP ‘built to do abortions’ / PP Bill to Make Recording Undercover Videos Illegal / Sex Offenders Hired by PP

10 Sex Offenders Planned Parenthood Has Helped Cecile Richards on New Planned Parenthood Site: “We Definitely Built This to Do Abortions” Planned Parenthood Pushes Bill Making It Illegal to Record Undercover Footage Like David Daleiden Did   10 Sex Offenders Planned Parenthood Has Helped “Ignoring signs of abuse is nothing new at America’s largest abortion chain, which is why I’ve made a list of my own. So without further adieu, here are 10 child rapists that were helped by Planned Parenthood.” [28 May 2016, Live Action News, http://liveactionnews.org/10-rapists-planned-parenthood-helped/ ]   Cecile Richards on New Planned Parenthood Site: “We Definitely Built This to Do Abortions” Is Planned Parenthood about selling abortions or women’s health care? Well, the CEO of the abortion business, Cecile Richards, cleared that up yesterday aft the grand opening of a new abortion facility in New Orleans, Louisiana. …“For the past few years, no local Planned Parenthood representative had dared to utter words as clear as these. Not only has Planned Parenthood built this facility for abortions, but it has designed it to squeeze every last abortion it can out of the New Orleans market,” Clapper continued. “As its own documents show, Planned Parenthood plans to sell 2,844 abortions on site each year over and above abortions already being performed elsewhere in New Orleans. The most recent numbers have Louisiana’s abortion count at 10,211 a year, but if Planned Parenthood has its way, that number will increase by 28%.” Fortunately, a new bill the Louisiana governor is expected to sign will cut off taxpayer funding for the abortion company, and others. “Thankfully, Gov. John Bel Edwards will...

Amazing Video Captures the Flash of Light the Moment Life Begins

Life begins with a spark – literally. Researchers at Northwestern University have documented the striking event in a new video that accompanies a study published this week. At the moment of conception, the egg releases massive amounts of zinc, which creates a spark that can be seen with the aid of a microscope. “It was remarkable,” said Teresa Woodruff, a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Northwestern University’s medical school. “To see the zinc radiate out in a burst from each human egg was breathtaking.” The research team had noted the zinc sparks before in mice eggs but had never observed the process in human beings. “All of biology starts at the time of fertilization,” Woodruff said, “yet we know next to nothing about the events that occur in the human.” One of the researchers, Northwestern chemistry professor Thomas O’Halloran, explained the science behind the process in 2014. “The egg first has to stockpile zinc and then must release some of the zinc to successfully navigate maturation, fertilization and the start of embryogenesis,” he said. “On cue, at the time of fertilization, we see the egg release thousands of packages, each dumping a million zinc atoms, and then it’s quiet.” “Each egg has four or five of these periodic sparks,” O’Halloran said. “It is beautiful to see, orchestrated much like a symphony.” Since the amount of zinc in an egg correlates with successful implantation and birth, the Northwestern researchers are highlighting that their research may be used to assist in vitro fertilization. But that raises concerns given the grave moral issues with IVF, which involves creating numerous embryos that...

Exposing Inhumane, Coercive Population Control: Commentary

I am president of Women’s Rights Without Frontiers. Our mission is to end forced abortion and the sex-selective abortion of baby girls in China. … Yes, the “one-child” policy has now moved to the “two-child” policy, but it is still an inhumane example of coercive population control. As blind activist Chen Guangcheng succinctly tweeted last year when the policy was changed, “This is nothing to be happy about. First the #CCP would kill any baby after one. Now they will kill any baby after two. #ChinaOneChildPolicy” Any and all babies born out of wedlock — to unmarried women — are automatically considered illegal and are subject to forced abortion. And given the cultural bias toward boys, second children who are daughters are especially vulnerable to being aborted. The horrible practice of forced abortion in China is why I founded Women’s Rights Without Frontiers. This is about fighting China’s “war on women and girls.” To understand the suffering caused by forced abortion in China, watch our short video, “Stop Forced Abortion — China’s War on Women” (WomensRightsWithoutFrontiers.org/?nav=stop-forced-abortion). China has an iron grip over the wombs of women. The Chinese Communist Party intrudes into the bedrooms and between the sheets of the families in China by requiring ultrasound checks to make sure women’s IUDs are still in place and paying informants who monitor women’s reproductive health. The problem with the one-child policy or the two-child policy lies not in the number of children allowed. The problem lies with the coercive enforcement of the birth limit, whatever that limit might be. Whether a couple is allowed to have one child or two...

Teen Abortion and Pregnancy Rates Reach Historic Lows as More Babies Saved From Abortions

The number of teen abortions in the U.S. fell to a historic low in 2011, following a national trend, according to a new report. http://www.lifenews.com/2016/04/12/teen-abortion-and-pregnancy-rates-reach-historic-lows-as-more-babies-saved-from-abortions/ The pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute, a former research arm of Planned Parenthood, released the new report showing that abortions among teenagers are at the lowest point since 1973 when Roe v. Wade allowed abortion on demand through all nine months of pregnancy. Teen pregnancies also hit an all-time low in 2011, according to the report. The 2011 teenage abortion rate was 13.5 per 1,000 women, the lowest since 1973, according to the report. The new number is a drop of nearly two-thirds since 1988, when the teen abortion rate peaked, the report states. The numbers appear to indicate that more pregnant teens are choosing to give birth to their babies. While the report found that fewer teens are getting pregnant, the numbers also indicated that the teens who are getting pregnant are not as likely to choose abortion. The researchers found that the number of teenage pregnancies that ended in abortion declined by one third from 1985 to 2007. Fewer teens are getting pregnant at all. The report found that about 5 percent of American teens became pregnant in 2011, or about 52 per 1,000. That’s a drop of 23 percent from 2008 and a more than 50 percent drop from 1990, according to the report. The report also discovered major differences in birth and abortion rates between racial groups: “The birthrate in 2011 for non-Hispanic white teenagers (21.7) was less than half that among non-Hispanic black teenagers (47.2) and Hispanic teenagers (49.6). The abortion...

CDC QuickStats: Birth Rates Among Females Aged 15–19 Years, by Race/Ethnicity — National Vital Statistics System, United States, 1991 and 2014

The figure is a bar chart showing that from 1991 to 2014, the birth rate for females aged 15-19 years declined 61%, from 61.8 to 24.2 births per 1,000, the lowest rate ever recorded for the United States. Declines ranged from 60% for non-Hispanic white teens to 72% for Asian or Pacific Islander teens. Despite the declines among all groups, teen birth rates by race/ethnicity continued to reflect wide disparities. In 1991, rates ranged from 27.3 per 1,000 for Asian or Pacific Islanders to 118.2 for non-Hispanic blacks; in 2014, rates ranged from 7.7 for Asian or Pacific Islanders to 38.0 for Hispanics. The Culture of Life is Gaining Ground

“On the watch of the most pro-abortion president in American history… — 60 abortion centers where 40 Days for Life campaigns have taken place, have closed their doors; — over 20 have closed in 2015; — 118 abortion workers have quit their jobs; — and 10,331 precious children (who we know of) survived to see life outside the womb. In 579 cities, across 30 countries, prayer warriors have stood vigil outside the places where human life is most threatened.” In 2000, a survey found that 2 Million women had visited 2,300 pregnancy centers in that year. All pregnancy center services, including client advocacy, pregnancy tests, limited ultrasouds, pregnancy training and parenting classes, and abortion recovery, are all offered at no charge. Pregnancy centers are ‘powerful missionary outreaches’ serving ‘as a tool to building a Culture of Life wherever there is a need and wherever we can offer Hope’ [Lori DeVillez, Ziglar Legacy, 2014]. The truth is that more people are learning the truth about abortion. Some learn from their friends or family members harmed by abortion. Some learn from the videos being released by The Center for Medical Progress which show the undercover reality of money triumphing over human life, as many abortion providers and ‘organ procurement company’ administrators reveal the realities of rapacious greed and power even as aborted baby limbs and organs lie in a lab and are auctioned for the highest price. Some learn on the television and radio — not on most secular media, though, which continue to completely ignore what Mother Teresa noted years ago — if tiny, innocent children are killed in the...

For Women’s Health Care, Here’s the Better Alternative than Planned Parenthood

With the release of yet another shocking Planned Parenthood video, defenders of the organization continue to argue that defunding Planned Parenthood would, as Hillary Clinton put it, “deny women . . . the health care they need and deserve.” This claim is false. The legislation that would defund Planned Parenthood instantly makes that money available “to other eligible entities to provide such women’s health care services” — entities like community health centers, or CHCs. As a former medical director and family physician at two different community health centers in the Washington, D.C., area, I understand women’s health-care needs, especially those of the poor and under-served. I have witnessed firsthand how CHC medical professionals and staff provide comprehensive health care for women, as well as for men and children of all ages, including those yet to be born. Planned Parenthood touts its role in providing “affordable sexual and reproductive health care to millions of women, men, and teens,” but where does a young woman go who is struggling with her weight? What health-care services does Planned Parenthood offer a woman with a strong family history of heart disease? Or what if a woman has symptoms of asthma or eczema or depression? Or maybe you’re a mom with several young children: You need a pap smear and they need well-child visits, and, given your crazy schedule, it would be best to get all your care in the same place. SYMPOSIUM: Planned Parenthood — Women’s Health Would Be Fine Without It For all these needs and more, CHCs are there. Today, they serve the primary health-care needs of 23 million patients in...

Women as ‘Host Beings’, and Children as Chattel…

Once again abortion is front and center in the political debate. The first question asked at our Feminists for Life’s Annual Capitol Hill Intern Briefing was: ‘What do you have to say as a feminist group about the recent videos?’ Seventies women’s advocates used to complain that the pro-life movement saw women as “host beings.” Now we know who really sees women as host beings and who is treating our children as chattel. Feminists for Life’s mission is to address the unmet needs of women so that they never consider abortion. When we say WOMEN DESERVE BETTER® we mean resources and support. Let’s work together to make abortion unthinkable. But what do we, as pro-life feminists who seek solutions, say to students and to women who mourn? We have also received numerous comments and questions on our Facebook page, like this: “I had an abortion many years ago. These videos have brought back the nightmare of what drove me to abortion, every detail of that day, and so many regrets. “My pro-life friends think I am murderer. “My pro-choice friends say it wasn’t a baby so they don’t understand why I regret my decision and why I mourn for my child. “I don’t feel like I am welcome anywhere and I can’t stop crying.” To any woman and man hurt by abortion and who regret their decision or participation, you are welcome at Feminists for Life. But first we hope that you would consider contacting Rachel’s Vineyard, Project Rachel, or get a referral to a qualified counselor who understands reproductive grief — perhaps through your local pregnancy resource center....

How One Brain Came Back From Unconsciousness

A car accident left 19-year-old Dylan Rizzo in a coma. This is the story of the long, perilous crawl to recovery. Dylan Rizzo, April 2015. Photo: Dylan Coulter for New York Magazine Day Zero Despite its encircling fortress of bone, the human brain is especially vulnerable to physical insult. There are approximately 1.7 million traumatic brain injuries in the United States each year, and although most of them are mild or moderate, thousands result in severe brain damage. Those injuries always happen on the same day: day zero, a day that marks the start of a fateful and often flawed prognostic calendar. For 19-year-old Dylan Rizzo, day zero was December 28, 2010. Tall and slender, with dark hair and a sly sense of humor, Dylan possessed bright eyes and a wry arch to his smile, like a younger James Franco. In word and deed, he was a sports nut. He played hockey and high-jumped at his high school in Lynnfield, Massachusetts, just north of Boston, and rooted passionately for the Bruins. During the normal part of day zero, Dylan and his father, Steve, watched a local hockey tournament, then went to a family dinner at his grandmother’s house. Around 8:30 p.m., Dylan left in his car, stopping to drop his sister off at home. Before heading to play video games at his friend Ryan’s house, he called his mother to complain. He couldn’t find his Xbox controller. “You always move my stuff!” he said. “No, I don’t,” Tracy Rizzo replied firmly. After hanging up, Tracy found the controller in the backseat of her car. “I called Dylan,” she recalled....

Assisted Suicide Bill Passed California Assembly (2008)

An assisted-suicide bill that allows doctors and nurses to suggest death by unconscious dehydration has barely passed the California State Assembly. AB 2747 would authorize total sedation without nutrition and hydration for depressed and confused patients, whether or not their natural death was imminent. The bill would also allow family members to order the death of a mentally disabled person when a nurse opines they have less than a year to live, similar to Terry Schindler Schiavo’s death at the hands of her husband. AB 2747 passed the Democrat-controlled Assembly Wednesday afternoon on a 41-32 vote, a one-vote margin of victory in the 80-member lower house. The vote was virtually party line, Democrats for, Republicans against. AB 2747 is authored by the same Democrats who unsuccessfully carried physician-assisted suicide bills for the last three years. “This deceptive bill will cause death and shorten life, despite its claims,” said Randy Thomasson, president of Campaign for Children and Families, a leading California-based pro-life, pro-family organization. “Drying up and shriveling to death through dehydration is a fate worse than lethal injection. By transforming palliative sedation into a vehicle for assisted suicide, AB 2747 would transform doctors and nurses from healers and comforters into killers like Dr. Jack Kevorkian.” [http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2008/may/08052901.html Life Site News; ALL Pro-Life Today, 30May08] By just two votes, the California State Assembly passed a bill yesterday that detractors say allows doctors to push patients toward medically assisted suicide. The bill, AB 2747, enables doctors to provide a patient declared to have less than one year to live with a long list of end-of-life options, including a last-moments option that looks...

Over 30% of Euthanasia Cases in Belgian Region Did Not Give Consent: Most were Undergoing Medical Treatment with the Hope of a Cure (2010)

In one region of Belgium, over 30 percent of reported euthanasia cases were carried out without the consent of the patient, a study has found. At the same time, the overall number of official reported deaths by euthanasia are dramatically increasing in the country since the practice was legalized in 2002, with 40 per cent more cases reported for 2009 than the previous year. A team of Belgian and Dutch end-of-life researchers circulated a questionnaire to physicians who signed death certificates of patients who died in the Belgian region of Flanders between June and November 2007. The study showed that of the 208 reported Flemish deaths involving the use of “life-ending drugs,” 142 were killed with “an explicit patient request,” and 66 “were without an explicit request.” The study, published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal this week, showed that in the majority of cases of euthanasia without a patient’s consent, the euthanasia “option” was not discussed with them before they were killed, and that most were undergoing medical treatment with the hope of a cure for their illness. The researchers noted that euthanasia and assisted suicide “mostly involved patients less than 80 years of age, those with cancer and those dying at home.” Euthanasia without a “specific request” from the patient was “mostly” carried out on patients over 80 years, “those with a disease other than cancer and those in hospital.” In most cases of patients killed without “an explicit request” (77.9%), “the decision was not discussed with the patient.” Many cases in which patients were killed without requesting euthanasia, the researchers said, “involved patients whose diseases had...

‘I Felt Trapped Inside My Body’ (2006)

Kate, 36, communicates through a keyboard. Scientists have shown for the first time that a person diagnosed as being in a vegetative state can communicate. In 1997, when Kate was 26, she caught an acute viral infection. It was so serious that it confined her to a vegetative state for six months. While she was in hospital, unresponsive and seemingly unaware of her surroundings, Cambridge neuroscientist Dr Adrian Owen, who went on to make this latest discovery, scanned her brain. He showed her familiar photographs, and realised from her brain activity that she was aware of the images that had been placed in front of her. As the months went on, and Dr Owen repeated the experiment, he found that Kate was becoming increasingly aware. The first memories she had, she says, lasted for a few minutes when her occupational therapist came in. “I could not move my face, so I could not show people how scared I was. Not being able to communicate was awful – I felt trapped inside my body. I had loads of questions, like ‘Where am I?’, ‘Why am I here?’, ‘What has happened?’.” She said the scans changed everything. “I just have to look and see what the scans did for me. They found I was there inside my body that did not respond. Her parents, Bill and Gill Bainbridge, whom Kate lives with in Cambridgeshire, agree. “The scan meant an enormous amount to us,” says Gill. “Up until then it had been very difficult for us to cope with the fact that she was in this vegetative state, and although she could...

Organs Removed Without Consent Due to NHS Data Error (2010)

Organs may have been removed from deceased people without their consent after a data-handling error by the NHS. The blunder meant 800,000 people on the UK donor register may have had their wishes about the use of organs for transplant wrongly recorded. The Sunday Telegraph reported that 45 of them have now died – and 20 families let organs of relatives be taken based on incorrectly stored information. NHS Blood and Transplant said it was urgently investigating. Many donors give consent for some organs to be used for transplant but not others, such as eyes. But the details of many donors’ preferences were accidentally deleted in 1999. “ It is horrific that such sensitive details were handled in such a careless way ” Patient Concern It first came to light in 2009 when NHS Blood and Transplant wrote to donors, reiterating what they had agreed to donate. But many wrote back saying the information was incorrect. Joyce Robins of pressure group Patient Concern told the Sunday Telegraph: “This government has got an absolutely dreadful record when it comes to data, but it is horrific that such sensitive details were handled in such a careless way.” ‘Small proportion’ NHS Blood and Transplant has since corrected 400,000 flawed records – but hundreds of thousands of people must now be contacted to confirm which organs may be taken. Until consent is given from those affected, no organs will be removed. It is against the law to take organs from the dead without their prior consent, or that of their family after death. A spokeswoman for NHS Blood and Transplant said: “We are...

Organs Taken from Patients who Doctors were Pressured to Declare Brain Dead (2012)

Lawsuit: Pressure to Declare Patients Dead to Harvest Organs A lawsuit filed in Manhattan accuses an organ collecting organization of pressuring doctors to declare dead and harvest. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/09/26/lawsuit-pressure-to-declare-patients-dead-to-harvest-organs/   Organs Taken from Patients who Doctors were Pressured to Declare Brain Dead The New York Organ Donor Network pressured hospital staffers to declare patients brain dead so their body parts could be harvested — and even hired “coaches” to train staffers how to be more persuasive, a bombshell lawsuit charged yesterday. The federally funded nonprofit used a “quota” system, and leaned heavily on the next of kin to sign consent forms when patients were not registered as organ donors, the suit charged. “They’re playing God,” said plaintiff Patrick McMahon, 50, an Air Force combat veteran and nurse practitioner who claims he was fired as a transplant coordinator after just four months for protesting the practice. Widening the Opening of the “Window” to the Brains of Patients Who are in a PVS or Who are Minimally Conscious (2014)

I confess my predilection for research (which grows yearly) that proves there is a lot more going on with patients who’ve suffered severe brain injuries than many “experts” have led us to believe. This is separate from misdiagnoses, which are a constant bane. We’re referring, rather, to the kind of excruciatingly careful experiments that reveal that the brains of people who’ve been diagnosed as being in either a persistent vegetative state or “minimally conscious” can be roused. The latest example—“Brain zap rouses people from years of vegetative state”—is explored in “New Scientist” magazine. (The story is more sober than the headline.) What you notice is that many of the same names crop up – Steven Laureys and Joseph Fins, in particular. These are scientists who’ve invested a large portion of their professional careers to finding “windows” and then widening the opening. Here’s what they did, here’s what they found, according to New Scientist correspondent Helen Thomson. “The team worked with 55 people who had experienced a traumatic brain injury or lack of oxygen to the brain and were in a minimally conscious or vegetative state. They placed electrodes over their left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex – an area involved in memory, decision-making and awareness. Then they delivered 20 minutes of stimulation to some of the people and a sham treatment to the others. The next day, the two groups received the opposite therapy. … And the results? “Soon after it was applied to their brains, 15 people with severe brain damage showed signs of consciousness, including moving their hands or following instructions using their eyes. Two people were even able...

Massachusetts General Hospital Issues DNR Orders Without Patient or Surrogate Consent (2014)

According to a study presented at the May 2014 American Thoracic Society International Conference in San Diego, Massachusetts General Hospital’s ethics committee has had a policy allowing unilateral do-not-resuscitate (DNR) orders since 2006. These orders, as defined by the study’s authors, are “a specific type of medical futility decision in which clinicians withhold advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in the event of cardiopulmonary arrest despite objections of patients or their surrogates.” (Emphasis added.) Researchers studied all the ethics committee’s consults involving DNR conflicts between doctors and their patients or the patients’ surrogate decision makers since 2006. There were 147 cases where there was conflict over intensity of treatment and DNR status. The ethics committee recommended a unilateral DNR order 35% of the time. That recommendation was implemented in 83% of those cases. The study found that a patient’s age, gender, and functional status prior to being hospitalized were “not associated” with a unilateral DNR recommendation, but non-white patients and “patients judged to have end stage conditions” were more likely to have a unilateral DNR recommended by the committee. Researchers also found that patients who actually were issued unilateral DNRs were more likely to die in the hospital. [Medical Futility Blogspot, 5/11/14] PRC consultant Wesley J. Smith called the Massachusetts General policy “a medical tyranny.” [Summer 2014, Vol.28, No.4, Patients Rights Council Update, http://www.patientsrightscouncil.org/site/update-071-volume-28-number-4-2014-4/ ]     UK: Two Landmark Court Rulings Address Euthanasia and DNR Orders …Aiding Those Seriously Disabled to End Their Lives The British Supreme Court has dismissed an appeal, brought by Paul Lamb and the widow of Tony Nicklinson, claiming that the law against euthanasia and assisted...

‘The Greatest Profession on Earth’: 6 Moms Spreading the Word About Motherhood

Not only do these six moms have 44 children between them, they are beautiful, vibrant, hardworking women on a mission to spread the beauty of what they deem “the greatest profession on earth”: motherhood. Brought together by dynamic pro-life leader and mother of nine, Jenn Giroux, these six women began traveling the United States in February 2010, calling their presentation “Speaking of Motherhood.” They witness to women on college campuses, at women’s conferences, and even in high schools, presenting a “counter-cultural” view of motherhood. Founder and former executive director of Human Life International America and founder of the Association of Large Families (AFLA), registered nurse Jenn Giroux holds an array of titles, but looks on her motherhood as the crowning achievement. Known for her speaking and writing on the spiritual and physical harms of contraception, Giroux’s plan for “Speaking of Motherhood” developed out of her public speaking. “There is a huge need out there for us to show the positive side of motherhood and to once again elevate motherhood to the respect that it deserves,” Giroux said in a telephone interview with LifeSiteNews.com while traveling with her five companions to a speaking engagement. ”It is the greatest profession on earth for women and it has really been completely denigrated by the feminist movement.” “Speaking of Motherhood” had its inaugural presentation at Notre Dame last February. Since then, the six moms have done sessions in Missouri, Nebraska, and Indiana and have upcoming bookings in Ohio, Kansas, and Washington. “We try to go wherever we’re invited,” said Giroux, who recently started marketing the talk. “Speaking of Motherhood” “One of the funniest...

Single-Sex Classes Improve Test Scores in Newark, New Jersey

Despite State and Federal laws that make it difficult for schools to support all girl or boy classes, some schools in New Jersey are hoping that single-sex classes will help their students’ academic performance. “Now it’s real easy to concentrate without all the boys,” said a 12-year-old girl in the pilot program. Teachers are reporting higher test scores, calmer classes, and more “healthy” academic competition. The Federal No Child Left Behind laws contains an exemption to state and federal sex discrimination laws, with parental consent, for schools to group students by gender for classes if the purpose is to improve academic performance. Uruguay President Vetoes Bill to Legalize Abortion

Tabare Vazquez is getting support from many groups in the South American nation for his vetoing a bill that would legalize abortion. [Many] welcomed his veto of a bill to allow first-trimester abortion on virtually any grounds. Vázquez defied the votes of his party in the Uruguay Congress to expand the nation’s abortion law, which cur0rently only allows abortions in cases of protecting the mother’s life, rape or extreme poverty. The president is an OBGYN by trade. President Vazquez initially said in November he would veto the bill. “The Law on Sexual and Reproductive Health has very positive elements that should be salvaged,” he said. “But there are others that I do not agree with from a philosophical and biological perspective and therefore they will be vetoed.” [2May08, Montevideo, Uruguay...
