Liver Transplant Saves Newborn Baby After Mom Wouldn't Consider Abortion
Professor Who Trashed Pro-Life Abortion Display Apologizes, Will Retire
Socialist Gov’t in Spain to Grant Great Apes “Human Rights”
LIVER TRANSPLANT SAVES NEWBORN BABY AFTER MOM REFUSED ABORTION. Jacob has survived despite receiving a rare metabolic disorder of the liver from his mother, Keeley. Although doctors warned her that getting pregnant would be risky, Keeley had no thoughts about abortion once she found out she was carrying Jacob and that he had inherited the disorder from her. Like other women in her family, Keeley carries the gene for the disorder OTC-deficiency and doctors told her in January that both she and her unborn son could have died. Gibbs refused to have an abortion and both she and Jacob survived the pregnancy and birth. After he was born, Jacob apparently became the youngest person ever to have a liver transplant -- at just 10 days old [St. Louis Children's Hospital]. Three months after the surgery, both baby and mother are doing well. [22Apr06, St. Louis, MO LifeNews.com]
PROFESSOR WHO TRASHED ABORTION DISPLAY APOLOGIZES, WILL RETIRE. The Northern Kentucky University professor who encouraged her students to vandalize a pro-life display -- and then led them in trashing it -- has apologized. Dr. Sally Jacobson, a tenured 27-year British literature professor, issued her apology just days after saying she saw nothing wrong with what she did: "It was a mistake of judgment for me to invite my students to participate in that action." NKU has suspended Jacobson and she will officially retire at the end of the school year. [WKRC-TV; LifeNews.com, 19Apr06] A pro-life display at Princeton has now been trashed.
SOCIALIST GOV'T IN SPAIN TO GRANT PRIMATES "HUMAN RIGHTS". The same government which stripped from unborn human children the right to life and permits destructive research on human embryos, has put forward legislation to grant great apes the rights to life, freedom and to not being tortured. Environment Minister Cristina Narbona, protested that the government was not giving apes human rights. “We are not talking about granting human rights to great apes,' but about 'protecting (their) habitat, avoiding their ill-treatment and their use in various circus activities,” she explained. The legislation would prohibit the 'enslaving' of gorillas, chimpanzees, orangutans and bonobos. The idea of “human” rights for great apes is possibly a stab at what secularists regard as “retrograde” Christian ideas about the hierarchical nature of creation with man, as the image of God, at the top. Currently, the birth rate in Spain stands among the lowest in Europe. A recent article appearing in the UK political magazine, the Spectator, suggested that a culturally and historically European Spain will soon find itself contracepted and aborted out of existence.
