Quotes to Note

Women who have induced abortions have an increased risk of HIV infection of 172%, and researchers are at least 99% confident of this result. "Significantly higher prevalences of infection [HIV-1] were associated with induced abortion (0.49%) than with delivery (0.18%) (OR: 2.72; 95% CI: 2.29-3.22)" [European Journal of Epidemiology, Deliveries, abortion and HIV-1 infection in Rome, 1989-1994, 1997, 13:373-378.]

A typical 15 year old American girl has a 10% lifetime risk of breast cancer. If she gets pregnant in her teens and has the baby she reduces her risk to 7.5%. However, if she has an abortion, her risk of breast cancer rises to 15% (assuming she has at least one child in her 20's).

If the abortion causes permanent infertility her and/or for other reasons, she never has another pregnancy, her risk rises to 30%. [Brinton LA, Hoover R, Fraumeni IF, Ir. (1983) Brit. J. Cancer. 47:757-62]

MORE SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH FROM DR. SHORT...

...A Comparison of Virgins and Non-Virgins...

                                                   NON-VIRGINS          VIRGINS
1. break up without marriage                more                      less

2. unhappy in marriage                        more                      less

3. divorce                                         more                      less

4. passed by for marriage                    more                       less          (males prefer virgins)

5. likely to have extramarital sex        twice as likely             less

6. temporary advantage                      more                       less                of having premarital sex

7. long-term disadvantage of premarital sex    more               less

8. guilt --> bad marriage                     more                       less

9. sexual salivation                             more                       less                  [1)guilt; 2)fear; 3)loss of self-esteem]
(cannot separate from sexual activity after marriage – habit)

10. rob themselves of sexual cement      more                       less

11. flunk the test of time                     more                       less

(couple needs time before
marriage to build solid foundation for their
relationship – at least 2 years before marriage
to work our problems/differences & develop
 good communication)

These are Scientific Facts

~~ One-third of engaged couples break up
~~ 55% of males, when asked, prefer to marry a virgin
~~ 63% of the most intelligent people prefer to marry virgins
~~ Most marriages that end in divorce do so within 2 years

Then,

~~ Sex before marriage becomes a bad habit, hard to break after marriage ~~ 89% of parents in the 1990’s were opposed to their teens being sexually active…

[Dr. Ray Short, seminar given in 1998 at the National Abstinence Conference in Minneapolis, MN]
