“In considering the Partial Birth Abortion Act, the Congress…found that a ‘moral, medical, and ethical consensus exists that the practice of performing a partial-birth abortion... is a gruesome and inhumane procedure that is never medically necessary and should be prohibited.’ Pres Bush signed the bill into law: ‘By acting to prevent this practice, the elected branches of our government have affirmed a basic standard of humanity, the duty of the strong to protect the weak....And the executive branch will vigorously defend this law against any who would try to overturn it in the courts.’…[Department of Justice spokesman Monica Goodling published a detailed explanation of the legal issues involved in the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban case]

STUDY CONFIRMS ESTROGEN IN WATER FROM THE PILL DEVASTATING TO FISH POPULATIONS. A study by Dr. Karen Kidd, of the University of New Brunswick and the Canadian Rivers Institute, found that estrogen from birth control pills flooding into the water system through sewage adversely affects fish populations.

The researchers added estrogen to an experimental lake at a level commonly found in the treated wastewater from cities with about 200,000 people. The researchers discovered that one consequence is that exposed male fish become feminized, producing a protein normally found in females.

Chronic exposure to estrogen led to the near extinction of the lake's fathead minnow population, as well as significant declines in larger fish, such as pearl dace and lake trout.

"We've known for some time that estrogen can adversely affect the reproductive health of fish, but ours was the first study to show the long-term impact on the sustainability of wild fish populations," explains Kidd.

"What we demonstrated is that estrogen can wipe out entire populations of small fish - a key food source for larger fish whose survival could in turn be threatened over the longer term."

Kidd also noted that once the estrogen levels in the water were lowered, fish populations rebounded after three years. "Once you take the stressor out the system, we now have ample evidence that suggests affected fish populations will recover," she said.

Kidd is preparing a report for the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) titled, "From Kitchen Sinks to Ocean Basins: Emerging Chemical Contaminants and Human Health".

In the 1980's and 90's, municipalities in Canada and elsewhere began stencilling pictures of fish next to storm drains to remind citizens that toxic chemicals - such as paint and motor oil - poured into the sewers would harm the environment and wildlife. In 1998, a trendy industrial designer in San Francisco won an award for creating storm drain grates shaped like fish.

Health authorities estimate that 100 million women worldwide take some form of hormonal contraceptives; but there is still little media attention given to the growing concerns of scientists about its environmental impact. However, studies are leaking out into the mainstream press more frequently as public interest in the environment grows.

The Pill, along with numerous other commonly used chemicals, end up in the water system as estrogen. At a conference on breast cancer in Toronto in 1998, author and cancer surgeon Dr. Susan Love said, "Pollutants are metabolized in our bodies as estrogen. And it is lifetime exposure to estrogen that has increased world cancer rates by 26% since 1980....We live in a toxic soup of chemicals".

Studies are also showing significant evidence for a link between environmental estrogens and estrogen-like chemical pollutants and the earlier onset of puberty in girls.

The phenomenon of early-onset puberty in American girls is so pervasive, that the Lawson Wilkins Pediatric Endocrine Society urged changing the definition of abnormal development. Ten years ago, breast development at age 8 was considered abnormally early, but a study in 1997 said that among 17,000 girls in North Carolina, almost half of blacks and 15 percent of whites had begun breast development by age 8. Studies from the United Kingdom, Canada, and New Zealand have shown similar results.

The new definition for abnormally early breast development ought to be, the Society says, 7 for white girls and 6 for black girls. Marcia Herman-Giddens [adjunct professor at the School of Public Health at the University of North Carolina] said, "My fear is that medical groups could take the data and say 'This is normal. We don't have to worry about it.' My feeling is that it is not normal. It's a response to an abnormal environment."

Conclusive studies are difficult to conduct, however, because of the all-pervasive nature of the environmental contamination. With all the estrogen-like elements in the environment, Herman-Giddens said, "it's virtually impossible to study. There's no place to find an unexposed population."

TECHNOLOGICAL CONCEPTION
INFERTILE DAUGHTERS COULD GIVE BIRTH TO THEIR OWN HALF-SIBLINGS WITH OVA FREEZING TECHNOLOGY. Advances in cryotechnologies have allowed British IVF facilities to offer a new service to infertile women, the Times reports today. Using recently developed techniques of freezing tissues, six women have stored extracted ova to be donated later to their infertile daughters who suffer from Turner syndrome, a condition that makes it impossible for them to produce their own eggs.

The Times quotes Dr. Gillian Lockwood, medical director of Midland Fertility Services, saying, "The perfect egg donors for girls with Turner syndrome are their own mothers." The women, five of whom have undergone the procedure at Care Fertility, a chain of clinics across the Midlands and the north of England, intend to donate their ova to be used later in IVF treatments to create offspring that have a "genetic link". Under this scheme, the daughters would be giving birth to their own half-siblings.

Under British law, regulations do not prohibit the storage and donation of gametes, either male or female. Until recently, however, it was very difficult to store ova, which have a greater tendency to break down under the freezing process than sperm.

Josephine Quintavalle of Comment on Reproductive Ethics (CORE) expressed some concerns about the technology, saying, "The child could feel a crisis of identity trying to work out their relationship with relatives. The daughter's husband may also feel an obligation to fertilise his mother-in-law's eggs."

But Professor Gedis Grudzinskas, a consultant gynaecologist at the Bridge Centre, in London, defended the technology, saying, "This is a right and proper way to use this egg-freezing technology. It is a natural urge for women to want to become grandparents." [26Feb08, Hilary White, London, LifeSiteNews.com]

SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM LOOKS AT LIFE. The 4th Annual Science and Technology Symposium was heldSept. 22 in Dayton, in which the firm LifeTech brought togetherprofessionals in scientific, technical and related fields to presentresearch and technology relevant to human life issues.

Sponsored by Right to Life of Greater Cincinnati, the purpose of the annual
event is to bring the ideas of technical professionals to bear on issues
related to the protection of life from conception to natural death.

Dr. Dennis Sullivan of Cedarville University speaks at the Science andTechnology Symposium, held Sept. 22 in Dayton.

The LifeTech event promoted uses of science and technology to assist the
unborn, elderly and handicapped rather than exploit them.

LifeTech is composed of computer and technology professionals. Its primary
activity is organizing and conducting the annual Pro-Life Science and
Technology Symposium, which has been held annually since 2004.

Rita Marker, attorney and executive director of the International Task Force
on Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide, gave the 2007 keynote address:
"Euthanasia, Assisted Suicide and Health Care Decisions Legal and
Practical Aspects."

She touched on the issues of euthanasia, assisted
suicide, "right-to-die" assisted suicide cases in Oregon, euthanasia
practices in the Netherlands, disability rights and pain management. Marker'
s advice about advance directives was simple: get one, and make it a durable
power of attorney for health care, not a living will, if you want to choose
the person who will make life and death decisions about your health care
when you can't.

When the Symposium opened, Paula Westwood, representing Right to Life of
Greater Cincinnati, welcomed the guests and speakers. Kicking off the
presentations, Don Humphreys, director of the Center for Teaching and
Learning at Cedarville University, discussed the ethical use of computer
technology in right-to-life activism during a talk titled "Restraining the
Web."

Humphries said that technology at first appears value-free and ethically
neutral, but the reality is that technical morality often blurs the lines
between the means and the ends. He framed the ethical dilemma that
technology confers power, and it is illusory to believe that power will
serve values. It is necessary, Humphries said, to remember that God's
greatest commandments included the vertical component, "love God," and the
horizontal component, "love your neighbor," making it morally responsible
for man to agree to do all he is capable of doing where his neighbor is
concerned.

Denise Mackura of Ohio Right to Life discussed the legal history of Supreme
Court cases affecting abortion and "reproductive freedom." She pointed out
that overturning Roe v. Wade will not make abortion illegal in all states
but will send the decision back to the people of each state.

Don Humphreys, director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at
Cedarville University.

She said that the people of 30 of the states had already rejected the notion
of abortion on Jan. 21, 1973; that every Jan. 22, the justices of the
Supreme Court are looking out their windows at the crowds on the Mall in
Washington, D.C., and the importance of public demonstrations can't be
overestimated. She said working to overturn the decision is vital because
the overturn will stop a kind of poison that is polluting our legal
thinking the idea that abortion is killing but not murder, and it has the
government's stamp of approval.

Makura said it was important to continue showing that women don't "need"
abortion rights, and overturning Roe will have absolutely no effect on
progress made in women's rights or destabilize the legal system. She
recommended to always speak of "when" Roe is overturned, not "if" Roe is
overturned.

The morning talks continued with another representative of Cedarville
University, Dr. Dennis Michael Sullivan, who presented information about
embryonic stem-cell research purporting to use non-destructive sources.

Sullivan said the legacy of in vitro fertilization, which began with the
birth of Louise Joy Brown, the first test tube baby, has been an excess of
frozen embryos with their potential for both life as people and as subjects
for medical research. These embryos contain the seductive embryonic stem
cells, "pluripotent" cells, not yet differentiated, and the thought that
they could be induced to become healthy pancreas cells for a diabetic, for
example, is a heady one.

However, no embryonic stem cell has ever been induced to become a cell useful for medical purposes, and more importantly,it is never moral to destroy one person for the benefit of another, he said.

Sullivan said the race is on to create pluripotent cells from non-viable
sources, and it is an indication that the moral issue is not immaterial. He
indicated his disapproval of all of the methods he has seen so far proposed
for harvesting pluripotent cells.

[ED. NOTE: SINCE THIS SYMPOSIUM, the iPSC has been developed. Skin cells can be harmlessly reprogrammed to revert back to embryonic-like stem cells. This should make embryo-destructive stem cells obsolete very soon.]

Larry Gearhart also looked at technical and moral issues in stem-cell research and reminded the seminar attendees that the value of human life is absolute, not functional. These speakers seemed inclined to view the use of adult stem cells, harvested from consenting adults, with more approval.

Following Marker's keynote address, the afternoon continued with Dr. Paul
Byrne from St. Charles Mercy Hospital in a discussion of brain death, asking
the question, "Is brain death true death?" He showed how the term brain
death is used mainly as a euphemism to encourage organ donation from living
human beings.

Donna Murphy from Right to Life of Greater Cincinnati showed endoscopic
images of developing babies, images that have helped people change their
minds about having abortions.

The human development of tiny embryos as documented in endoscopic photography is hard to miss. Ultrasound technology is non-invasive and more commonly used to monitor development. She said that the crisis pregnancy centers often have old worn out ultrasound equipment, and can't always show a prospective mother how developed her child really is.

Event co-sponsors included LifeTech (formerly known as the Technology Task
Force); Center for Life and Hope; Cincinnati Right to Life Education
Foundation; Clark County Right to Life; Dayton Right to Life; Greene County
Right to Life; Life Issues Institute; Ohio Right to Life Society; Priests
for Life; Shelby County Right to Life; Tri County Right to Life Education
Foundation; and Pregnant Pause.

LifeTech was initially founded as the Ohio Right to Life Technology Task
Force to provide Ohio Right to Life with technical advice on applying
technology to advancing the pro-life cause. It established the first ORTL
web site, advised on upgrading the computer installation at ORTL, and it
advised various Right to Life chapters in Ohio about computer selection and
installation. It has since spun off as an independent organization and has
gone on to other activities, primarily the organization and presentation of
the Science and Technology Symposium annually.

SENATORS INTRODUCE BILL TO PROTECT PREGNANT WOMEN. U.S. Sens. David Vitter, George Voinovich and Sam Brownback this week introduced the Pregnant Women Health and Safety Act, which would require physicians who perform abortions to hold admitting privileges at a hospital that the physician can travel to in one hour or less under average travel conditions.

"This legislation is so important because it provides common sense qualifications for abortion providers," said Vitter, the primary author of the bill.  "As with all medical procedures, abortions carry a risk, and doctors who provide them should, at the least, hold admitting privileges at a hospital in close vicinity to the abortion clinic."

The bill also requires that physicians notify patients as to the location of a hospital where they can receive follow-up care from the physician in the event that complications arise.  Further, the bill requires that any abortion clinic that receives federal funding be licensed and comply with current requirements relating to ambulatory surgery centers.

The bill also provides that any physician who does not hold clinical privileges may only perform or induce an abortion in order to avert the imminent death of the pregnant woman.

"Patients need to be aware of the possibility of complications arising from abortions," Vitter said.  "This bill requires abortion providers to make sure that a woman is aware of the location of the hospital at which she can receive treatment for any complications.  It is time that we took the appropriate steps to provide for the safety of the women who undergo abortions."

Brownback said, "While we are working toward the day when every unborn child is welcomed and loved, we are unfortunately not there yet.  The Pregnant Women Health and Safety Act will provide oversight of the abortion industry, which is badly in need of improved supervision.  Too many abortions are performed under unsafe conditions, and too many women's lives are at risk.  As a compassionate society, we must work to ensure that women are adequately cared for."

"The impetus of this bill stems from the tragic circumstances of so many women who have experienced significant health issues following abortions," said Vitter. "Thousands of women have these stories to tell - stories like that of Cynthia Collins, who suffered through a botched abortion at home, after being sent away from an abortion clinic by a doctor who offered no advice, no comfort, and no further care."

Collins now serves as the executive director of the Crisis Pregnancy Help Center and is the Louisiana state director of Operation Outcry, which provides assistance to women and men who have experienced the trauma caused by abortion. [1Apr08, D.C.; PharmFacts E-News Update]

ARGENTINA'S LARGEST PROVINCE DECLARES IT IS "PRO-LIFE". The government of Argentina's largest province, which contains 37% of the country's total population, has declared itself "pro-life".

At a meeting in the Province of Buenos Aires, which contains approximately 15 million inhabitants, health minister Claudio Zin stated publicly, "This is a pro-life government" that is "against abortion".

The statement was made by Zin in the presence of the governor of the province, Daniel Scioli, who was in attendance with his chief of staff, vice-governor, and numerous cabinet officials.

According to the Argentine newspaper El Dia, Scioli held the meeting [state] that his government would be different from the previous administration led by Felipe Solá. Solá was reportedly sympathetic to anti-life policies.

One participant at the meeting said that one bishop had expressed concern after reading a news report that a bill was under consideration to promote surgical sterilization in the province. However, after being informed of the situation Scioli's administration acted to quash the legislation.

The clear pro-life position of Scioli's government is another sign that Argentina is moving in a pro-life direction.

Within a week of being elected last December, the governor of the province of La Pampa, Oscar Jorge, vetoed legislation to legalize abortion, although the legislation had enjoyed the support of the previous governor.

After numerous protests against the pro-abortion policies of Argentine President Nestor Kirchner by Argentine religious and professional groups in 2007, the nation's presidency was won by Kristina Fernandez de Kirchner, who declared herself pro-life.

Although Fernandez de Kirchner's husband, the nation's previous president, showed sympathy for the pro-abortion cause and appointed a pro-abortion health minister, Fernandez de Kirchner has generally maintained a pro-life policy.

OKLAHOMA ULTRASOUND. Despite setbacks along the way, pro-lifers refused to give up on an Oklahoma ultrasound bill.

This week, their persistence was rewarded. Members of the state legislature banded together and overrode the veto of Gov. Brad Henry (D) to enact a law that requires doctors to perform an ultrasound so that mothers can see their unborn babies at least an hour before their scheduled abortion. Thanks to the courage of these leaders, Oklahoma now joins 12 other states in helping to better inform women about the innocent life they carry.

GENETIC TESTING: NATIONAL "DNA WAREHOUSE" BILL PASSES. Passing the House of Representatives on a voice vote, S. 1858 has been sent to President Bush for signature.

The Newborn Genetic Screening bill was passed by the Senate last December.

The bill violates the U.S. Constitution and the Nuremberg Code, writes Twila Brase, president of the Citizen?s Council on Health Care (CCHC) <http://pr4.netatlantic.com/t/892601/13805419/37215/0/?u=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5jY2hjb25saW5lLm9yZy8%

3d&x=6ebdf7bc>

The DNA taken at birth from every citizen is essentially owned by the government, and every citizen becomes a potential subject of government-sponsored genetic research, she states.

It does not require consent and there are no requirements to inform parents about the warehousing of their child's DNA for the purpose of genetic research.

Already, in Minnesota, the state health department reports that 42,210 children of the 780,000 whose DNA is housed in the Minnesota "DNA warehouse" have been subjected to genetic research without their parents' knowledge or consent.

The federal government lacks the Constitutional authority as well as the competence to develop a newborn screening program, states Rep. Ron Paul, M.D. (R-TX). HOMOSEXUAL SEX KILLS. "In light of the irrefutable medical facts, it should be considered criminally reckless for educators to teach children that homosexual conduct is a normal, safe and perfectly acceptable alternative form of sexual expression (or 'sexual orientation'). "Commentary by J. Matt Barber

Can you imagine officials at a middle school, junior high or high school setting aside a day to promote "tolerance" for heavy smoking and drinking among children? How about a day where teachers encourage kids to "embrace who they are," pick up that crack pipe and give it a stiff toke?

Neither can I. The public would go ballistic, and for good reason.

But that hasn't stopped officials in thousands of schools across the country from promoting other politically correct and socially "in-vogue" behaviors that - both statistically and manifestly - are every bit as dangerous as the aforementioned frowned-upon behaviors.

That's exactly what the homosexual activist "Day of Silence" is all about - advancing, through clever, feel-good propaganda, full acceptance among children of the homosexual lifestyle.

Just the Facts Ma'am

By recently admitting that "HIV is a gay disease," Matt Foreman, outgoing Executive Director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, acknowledged what the medical community has known for decades: the homosexual lifestyle is extremely high-risk and often leads to disease and even death.

In fact, multiple studies have established that homosexual conduct, especially among males, is considerably more hazardous to one's health than a lifetime of chain smoking.

To the consternation of "gay" activist flat-earthers and homosexual AIDS holocaust deniers everywhere, one such study - conducted by pro-"gay" researchers in Canada - was published in the International Journal of Epidemiology (IJE) in 1997. (see the study here: http://ije.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/reprint/26/3/657.pdf )

While the medical consensus is that smoking knocks from two to 10 years off an individual's life expectancy, the IJE study found that homosexual conduct shortens the lifespan of "gays" by an astounding "8 to 20 years" - more than twice that of smoking.

"[U]nder even the most liberal assumptions," concluded the study, "gay and bisexual men in this urban centre are now experiencing a life expectancy similar to that experienced by all men in Canada in the year 1871. … [L]ife expectancy at age 20 years for gay and bisexual men is 8 to 20 years less than for all men."

This morose reality makes a strong case for a fitting redefinition of so-called "homophobia," that being "Homophobia: The rational fear that 'gay sex' will kill you!"

The fact that we don't have mandatory surgeon general warnings on the side of condom wrappers is a testament to the power and influence wielded by the radical homosexual lobby. (Warning: Male-male anal sodomy has been proven to shorten your lifespan by up to 20 years.)

Not surprisingly, that same homosexual lobby and its codependent enablers in the mainstream media moved quickly to sweep the IJE study under the rug. Under tremendous pressure, the researchers who conducted the study even jumped into the political damage control fray issuing a statement which read, "[W]e do not condone the use of our research in a manner that restricts the political or human rights of gay and bisexual men or any other group."

Yeah, so?

Of course, that's all just worthless fluff. All the political spin in the world doesn't change reality, nor does it eliminate the study's disturbing conclusions or practical implications. The research left ZERO wiggle room for anyone who would argue that homosexuality is a "perfectly normal and healthy alternative sexual orientation."

The risks associated with homosexual conduct are so drastic, in fact, that U.S. health regulations prohibit men who have sex with men (MSM) and women who have had sex with MSM, from even donating blood.

Consider that, according to the Food and Drug Administration, MSM, "have an HIV prevalence 60 times higher than the general population, 800 times higher than first time blood donors and 8,000 times higher than repeat blood donors."

Adults and children who engage in homosexual conduct, especially males, are also susceptible, at an astronomical rate, to nearly all other forms of sexually transmitted disease (STD). For example, the Hepatitis B virus is about five to six times more prevalent among "gays," and Hepatitis C is twice as common.

But perhaps most shocking are today's syphilis rates among homosexual men and adolescents. A recent study conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found that although homosexuals comprise only a fraction of the population (one to two percent), they account for an epidemic 64 percent of all syphilis cases.

The "Day of Silence"

In light of the irrefutable medical facts, it should be considered criminally reckless for educators to teach children that homosexual conduct is a normal, safe and perfectly acceptable alternative form of sexual expression (or "sexual orientation").

But instead, the "gay" lifestyle is vigorously promoted in our public schools. Sexually confused children who suffer from gender identity disorder and same-sex attractions are told to "embrace who they are," and are encouraged to entertain deviant and dangerous sexual temptations. "But always use a condom!" liberal educators bellow. (Forget that condoms have a perilously high failure rate and are incapable of preventing numerous STDs such as the HPV virus.)

On April 25, 2008, the pro-homosexual indoctrination of your children comes to a boil. Homosexual activists and like-minded liberal educators will be pushing the so-called "Day of Silence" on kids in thousands of schools across the country.

The "Day of Silence" (DOS) is organized by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), one of the most militant and well-funded of the powerful homosexual pressure groups. DOS purports to confront the alleged systematic harassment and bullying of children who self-identify as homosexual, bisexual or "transgender." (For a sampling of the kinds of things GLSEN teaches children, click here: http://www.cultureandfamily.org/articledisplay.asp?id=2580&department=CFI&categoryid=papers#fistgate ; Be warned, though. It's pretty graphic.)

To be sure, bullying and harassment should not be tolerated against anyone, anywhere for any reason, and those who engage in such activities should be firmly disciplined. However, DOS has very little to do with "bullying" and has everything to do with propaganda.

During DOS, children and teachers are encouraged to disrupt the school day by refusing to speak, in a show of support to self-described "gay," "lesbian," "bisexual" and "transgender" students. Kids are additionally taught that Biblical truth, which holds that human sexuality is a gift from God shared between husband and wife within the bonds of marriage, is "homophobic," "hateful" and "discriminatory."

Our schools are supposed to be places of learning, not places of political indoctrination. It's the height of impropriety and cynicism for "gay" activists and school officials to use good-hearted but misguided children as pawns in their attempt to further a deceptive, highly controversial and polarizing political agenda.

DOS is pure, unadulterated propaganda and, based on the medical science, amounts to nothing short of educational malpractice. With liberal school officials in tow, these militant homosexual activists are brazenly circumventing and abusing parental authority to further this dangerous political agenda. DOS is also a slap in the face to the many students with traditional moral values.

So, it's time for the "Day of Silence" to finally live up to its name. It's time for these radical adult activists to be silent in our children's schools.

At DOS-participating schools all over the country, parents are joining with dozens of pro-family organizations, such as Concerned Women for America (CWA), in a "Day of Silence Walkout." They're keeping their kids home from school on DOS as a show of protest. (For more information visit http://www.missionamerica.com ).

Parents and children are also strongly encouraged to participate in the Alliance Defense Fund's non-disruptive "Day of Truth," which will follow DOS on Monday, April 28, 2008. (For more information visit http://www.dayoftruth.org ).

Children are impressionable. Their young minds are fresh clay ready for molding, and these adult homosexual activists know it. Your child's spiritual, emotional and physical well-being belongs in your hands, not in the hands of liberal activists and elitist educators with a deceptive and destructive political agenda.

It's time to shatter the silence with truth.

PLANNED  PARENTHOOD PP hardly makes national news for any of this kind of stuff.  Here is some recent tracking of PP which is almost invisible to folks limited to television /mainstream news.

IT’S AN UGLY WORD…RACISM. Noting that 80% of PPFA centers are in minority neighborhoods and that almost half of all African-American pregnancies end in abortion, this video is designed to shake a common assumption about the nation’s largest abortion provider. Listen for yourself to the recorded calls made to abortion businesses offering donations specified for African-Americans for overtly racist reasons. Not one business turned them down!

AMERICA'S LARGEST ABORTION CHAIN EXPANDING: Planned Parenthood Nearly Doubles Medication Abortion Sites. Marie Hahnenberg [researcher, director of ALL Map Room Project]: "Planned Parenthood has a total of 855 sites across the country. We now know that 287 are surgical and medical abortion centers. That marks an increase of 55 abortion locations over the previous year."

It is noteworthy that PP has nearly doubled the number of medication abortion-only sites that distribute the abortion drugs mifepristone (RU 486, mifeprex) and methotrexate.

The new survey shows 108 locations offer medication abortions, an increase of 48 over the previous survey.

Since the Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton cases decriminalized abortion in 1973, there have been an estimated 4,000,000 babies killed at Planned Parenthood facilities alone and the number continues to rise. [Feb-March 2008, ALL News; www.all.org/stopp/maps]

SHOULD A  NONPROFIT  BE RICH?

Planned Parenthood: Annual Budget $1 BILLION;  2006:, $112 Million Profit, $336 Million in Public Funds, 289,650 Abortions - More Preborn Children Killed.  While most companies have started to feel the squeeze of our sagging economy, business has never been better for Planned Parenthood.

Although the organization couldn't be more controversial, its profits have never been higher, according to the group's just-released 2006-07 annual report.

PPFA generated $1.0179 billion in Fiscal Year 2006- 2007, which is an increase of nearly 11 percent over the previous reporting period. In Fiscal Year 2005- 2006, PPFA's budget rose just 2.4 percent over the previous Fiscal Year. One year earlier (2004-2005) that figure was 8.4 percent.

PPFA's massive budget has skyrocketed in part due to a $31.4 million increase in the amount the abortion- committing goliath gets from American taxpayers.

In Fiscal Year 2005-2006, government funding increased by nearly 10.8 percent.

In Fiscal Year 2006-2007, taxpayers gave another 10.3 percent, bringing the one year total to $336.7 million.

The most recent figures show that 33.1 percent of PPFA's annual revenue comes from taxpayers.

In Fiscal Year 2005- 2006 that figure was 33.8 percent.

Douglas Scott [LDI pres]: "This 'not-for-profit' behemoth ends every fiscal year with millions of dollars in 'excess revenue over expenses' which is known to regular people as 'profit.'" The 'excess' for 2004-2005 alone was $63 million. In 2005-2006 alone, the excess was $55.8 million. In 2006-2007 alone, this “excess” amount was a staggering $114.8 million.

On June 30, 2007, PPFA had net assets valued at $951.8 million, ($383.1 million unrestricted & $160.0 million temporarily restricted). "This is essentially a savings account," Scott explained.

"The money is sitting in a bank and drawing interest that will further advance Planned Parenthood's deadly agenda. Despite these huge sums, the corporation's hierarchy incessantly claims to need more and more tax dollars," Scott said.

PPFA admits to killing 289,650 preborn U.S. human beings in 2006 alone (up ~9.4%, 24,707 lives -“6 times the number of casualties from the entire Iraq war”, from 2005), generating an estimated $125 million. Only 2,410 PP customers were referred to adoption agencies.

PPFA claims to prevent the "need" for abortion while simultaneously working to increase its share of the abortion market.

In 1984, PPFA committed ~ 5.5% of all abortions in the USA.

By 2004 that figure had risen to nearly 20 percent.

PPFA sold 1,436,846 "emergency" birth control kits in 2006 (nearly 18.0 percent more than in 2005).

Note that the abortion drug Plan B is more expensive than most other OCs, and PP has been taking 600 to 900% profit on these sales for decades, getting preferred special pricing, as do some non-profit hospital associations.  The usual retail outlets of anything, including drugs, cannot make a 30% margin. Every PPFA "clinic" dispenses "emergency" birth control. Most prescribe it over the phone and accept orders over the Internet, without an exam. This lack of physician oversight is a very dangerous trend for women's health.

Scott: "…the number of affiliates and local 'clinics' has changed very little over the past several years. What we are seeing is merely a calculated reorganization… I just don't see how anyone could reasonably conclude that the Pro-Life Movement is winning against Planned Parenthood …we need to acknowledge that we are failing-- miserably. But this does not mean a successful strategy does not exist." “While the public is increasingly skeptical of PP’s operation, it has yet to put a dent in the organization's bottom line. The majority of Americans wouldn't invest in a company that conspires in sexual crimes against children by ignoring obvious statutory rape/abuse, accepts racially-motivated donations, promotes pornography to kids (its teen website), devotes millions to the election of pro-abortion leaders, and uses unsanitary equipment to treat patients.

"Unfortunately, through Title X and Medicaid, the federal government is forcing taxpayers to do just that. On our website, www.frc.org, FRC is circulating a petition to the White House, urging President Bush to approve new Title X guidelines that would ensure no federal money goes to refer women for abortions”

…If "choice" is the mantra du jour, then taxpayers deserve one in how their money is spent.

Then, massive gov’t funding of the controversial agency comes despite its having been caught red-handed in illegal activity by various sting operations.

Beginning in 2002 with the efforts of the pro-life group Life Dynamics, Planned Parenthood (PP) sites across the USA were caught on tape counseling actors posing as pregnant young girls seeking abortions to conceal the ages of their adult sexual partners since state laws would have required reporting of statutory rape.

Such sting operations have been repeated more recently with more modern surveillance equipment but with similar results.

Last year Lila, then 18 and a sophomore at the UCLA [www.laadvocate.com/], entered a local PP site with a hidden video recorder. Lila posed as a pregnant 15-year-old accompanied by her 23-year-old "boyfriend".

The video documents a staffer breaking California law, which requires clinics to report sexual abuse, including statutory rape where the victim is under 16 years old. The staffer told Rose: "If you're 15, we have to report it ... If you're not, if you're older than that, then we don't need to." Rose says: "Okay, but if I just say I'm not 15, then it's different?"

The PPLA staffer responds: "You could say 16 ... Just figure out a birth date that works. And I don't know anything." (see coverage: http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2007/may/07051504.html)

Most recently Planned Parenthood was caught on tape accepting the donation of an actor posing as a racist hoping to fund the abortion of an African-American baby. (see: http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2008/feb/08022802.html ).

An affiliate of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), PPFA describes itself as the world's oldest and largest "reproductive health care" business.

The PPFA annual report proudly includes on its last page that the organization was "Founded by [eugenics advocate] Margaret [Higgins] Sanger in 1916 - more than 90 years ago - as America's first birth control clinic [sic]."

That is the same Margaret Sanger who once stated, "We do not want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population."
