Alabama Physicians For Life, Inc., Opposes HR 3962
1- The Physicians’ Right of Conscience would be denied; the patient – physician bond of trust would be lost
2- Federally enshrining Abortion into Legislation as "health care" would be an unconscionable act
3- Abortion Funding would force all taxpayers to support something morally reprehensible; undoubtedly, the cost of an abortion procedure would dramatically increase overnight and the number of “free” abortions under the federal-funded program would also dramatically increase as more women accepted abortion as birth control.
Many physicians know they would not be able to practice good medicine without the Right of Conscience. Potentially, thousands of doctors could quit the medical field if they no longer have conscience protections because they know good medicine cannot be practiced in an ethical or moral vacuum.
Caring physicians function under the Hippocratic principle to Do No Harm. If these physicians feel forced to leave their medical practice, a severe shortage of quality medical professionals would result.

Many serious questions have still not been resolved in the 2000-page health bill regarding end of life issues and rationing.
There is much good in our present health program which will be lost if HR 3962 is passed.
We should work for improvement to health care IN SECTIONS, not allow this enormous 2000-page, constantly changing bill which hasn't been read by most legislators and which will use federal funds to pay for so many culture of death efforts to become the law of the Land.
