How Do I Say "NO"
Sample Comebacks

Here are just a few sample comebacks. Practice saying them or similar responses, in front of a mirror (for eye contact practice).

"I thought you loved me!" ...I do, but I thought you respected me!

"If you really loved me, you’d have sex with me" ... If you really loved me, you wouldn’t pressure me!

"We both love each other, so who would be hurt if we have sex?" Of course we love each other now, but what if we break up? It's not fair to ourselves or to the persons we will eventually marry.

"Everybody’s doing it" ... That’s not true. I’m not ‘doing it’ and I’m somebody.

OR

I don't want to be like everyone else. Our relationship is special, not like the others which are based solely on sex.
OR

Well, I’m not everybody. There ARE lots of people getting pregnant or getting AIDS or other STDs. There should be plenty of people you can do it with, but I don’t want to be a statistic!
OR

I can become like everybody else anytime I want to; but they can never again become like me.

"Don’t you trust me?" ... Marriage is built on trust. Do you want to marry me right now?

"I think you owe it to me" ... I don’t owe you anything.

"We might not get another chance." ... If you really loved me, you wouldn’t ask me to take chances.

"It’s the only way to prove you’re a man/woman!" ... I don’t have to prove anything to you!

"If you won’t do it, I’ll find someone who will." ... If that’s all I mean to you, then you should find someone else, because I'm looking for someone to love me for me, not for their own pleasure with my body.

"You can’t get pregnant the first time!" ... YOU won’t, that’s for sure; but I could!

"Don't worry! You won't get pregnant" I really love you, but I just don't feel it's right to have sex before we are married. Please understand and respect my decision.

"If you get pregnant, I’ll marry you." ... Why wait? Let’s get married now!

"I love you so much, I want to give you more!" ... GREAT! Give me your self-control! / Give me a wedding ring!

IT'S OK TO SAY "NO" -- You are really saying "YES" to your future spouse when you say "no" now!

IT'S OK TO SAY "NO" -- You are really saying "YES" to your whole future -- school, job, children, home

Here are some other ways to say "NO" without losing his or her love. And if your "friend" drops you after you say "no", it wasn't true love anyway. That person just wanted to "USE" your body. That is NOT true love!

No, thanks. If you really loved me, you wouldn't ask.

I have decided NO sex before marriage, so please don't pressure me.

You're terrific! I like you a lot. But when I have sex, it's got to mean a Total Commitment, and we aren't there yet.

Sure, I feel romantic...but I don't like taking chances and we both know sex can be dynamite...let's cool it.

I respect your feelings, so I ask you to respect my choice: No thank you.

There are other ways to say "NO"!

say "NO" by the way you DRESS -- wear clothes that advertise yourself, not your sexiness

say "NO" by the way you TALK -- cool down conversations that get too hot

say "NO" by your ACTIONS -- plan fun things to do on your dates so you don't end up parking, pawing, passionate... and pregnant!

NO is a LOVE WORD!
NO Now means YES for Your Future!
