Quotes to Note
“Every 38 seconds a woman lays her body down and has an abortion. She does not do it for herself, but for the convenience of those around her. She does it because she feels that she has no other choice.” -- Serrin Foster, President of Feminists For Life of America

POLLS -- Since 1995, Gallup has recorded a slight but "clear drop in support for abortion" among men and women of all age groups, said Lydia Saad, [senior editor, Gallup].

In a 1995 poll, 56% called themselves "pro-choice," compared with 33% who said they were "pro-life." When the same question was asked 10/03, 48% said they were "pro-choice" and 45% "pro-life." But younger women, along with their older baby boom cohorts, remain the strongest backers of abortion rights. The combined results of Gallup polls since 2001 show that, among women age 18-29, 54% label themselves "pro-choice," while 39% said they were "pro-life."
