Fertility Panel Drops Monitoring Plan For Tracking Embryos for Babies' Health After Outcry Over Privacy by doctors and patients groups. A federal advisory committee dropped recommendations calling for increased monitoring of U.S. in vitro fertility clinics. A senior member of the President's Council on Bioethics, meeting in Washington , said the 17 member panel has agreed to abandon proposals to track embryos created through in-vitro fertilization, monitor the health of offspring for one year and other steps that critics called intrusive.
