Quotes to Note

The Abstinence Clearinghouse stands strong for the prevention strategy that works; we believe empowering individuals to remain (A)bstinent until marriage to an uninfected spouse and (B)eing faithful in that marriage will save lives.

Demonstrating (C)haracter, (C)ompassion, and (C)ommitment in this way is the only "ABC" message that will eradicate the world of the devastating effects of HIV/AIDS. [1Dec05 World AIDS Day Statement from Abstinence Clearinghouse]

The entire Alabama Congressional Delegation contacted AL Department of Public Health Director Dr. Donald Williamson in 2004, urging him to stop dispensing Emergency Contraception (also called Plan B, or the Morning After Pill) in county health departments.

Dr. Williamson responded that he was required by the federal government to do so.

The AL Delegation then contacted Secretary Tommy Thompson, and Dr. Williamson contacted Dr. Alma Golden, at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to verify this.

Here is the letter of the AL Delegation back to Dr. Williamson.
