Quotes to Note

The U.S. Teen Pregnancy Rate declined by 36% from 1990-2002.

The U.S. Teen Birth Rate declined by fully one-third from 1991-2004.

The birth rate among teenagers again declined 2% in 2005, continuing a trend from the early 1990s. The rate is now about 40 births per 1,000 females, ages 15 to 19. That is the lowest level in the 65 years for which a consistent series of rates is available.

The U.S. teen birth rate is still the highest among industrialized countries.

The U.S. Teen Abortion Rate also declined by 37% from 1990-2002.

Contraceptive Sex Education: Most Harmful Government Programs Revealed (4/06) PDF Print E-mail

In a posted piece on Human Events Online, an annual top ten list of the most wasteful government programs was given.

Ranked number 5 was the federal funding of contraceptive distribution programs in so-called “family-planning” clinics, like Planned Parenthood.

Thanks to a 1977 Supreme Court decision, clinics like Planned Parenthood can give contraception paid for with federal funds to minors under 16 years old without parental consent.

38 public policy experts and scholars, including Dick Armey, Charles Baird, Allan Carlson, Michelle Easton, and more nominated and selected the list of disappointing federal programs for this year’s 4th annual report.
