Abortion is mandatory at Planned Parenthood.

In 2011, the abortion business began requiring that all of its affiliates do abortions; and this week, the effects of that mandate continued with a new mid-west merger.

The Associated Press reports two Planned Parenthood affiliates announced a merger on Wednesday that will expand its abortion business in the mid-west. The Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri affiliate plans to merge with the central Oklahoma affiliate in July, according to the report.

The new Planned Parenthood affiliate also plans to open a new facility in Oklahoma City, but spokespeople would not say whether it will do abortions. Currently, none of the Oklahoma facilities do abortions.

…Mary Kay Culp, executive director of the anti-abortion group Kansans for Life, called the opening of a new Planned Parenthood clinic in Oklahoma “sad” and “unfortunate.”

“It’s anti-woman. It’s anti-baby,” she said. “They care more about business than they do about caring for women and children.”

The new affiliate will be called Planned Parenthood Great Plains. The abortion group said the merger will be financially beneficial, and there will not be any downsizing. Laura McQuade, president of the Kansas and Mid-Missouri affiliate, described the merger as a new “powerhouse” in the region for the abortion business.

Abortion is a big moneymaker for Planned Parenthood, which is why it began mandating that all its affiliates do abortions several years ago. Recently, a Wisconsin Planned Parenthood even stopped providing contraception to focus solely on doing abortions, LifeNews reported.

The Oklahoma affiliate appears to be the last to begin complying with the abortion mandate.

Many affiliates already have merged, and others have left the abortion chain as a result of its deadly abortion mandate.

As LifeNews.com previously reported, Planned Parenthood came under fire from one of its own affiliates in Texas, which left the national abortion business in 2010 because it did not want to operate an abortion facility. The Corpus Christie, Texas-based Planned Parenthood of South Texas affiliate announced it resigned its status as a network of clinics aligned with Planned Parenthood because of the abortion mandate.

Lisa David, senior vice president of Health Services Support for the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, confirmed the abortion expansion and the mandate in a 2011 interview.

The mandate compels every Planned Parenthood affiliate to run at least one abortion center.

She said the 85 regions or affiliates aligned with Planned Parenthood must operate an abortion center by 2013 — which would ensure all 820 Planned Parenthood clinics nationwide either do abortions or provide abortion referrals to a Planned Parenthood abortion center.

Planned Parenthood does about 320,000 abortions a year, more than anyone else in the nation.
