Between 1991-2001, the Teen Birth Rate in LA dropped by 24%, a new study shows that this reflects a worldwide trend.
Within the nation, between 1991-2001 26.2% fewer teens gave birth. In LA, in 1991 there were 76 births to teens, but that number dropped to 58 by 2001. The report by the National Center for Health Statistics said that abstinence programs were a primary factor for this decline. [Abstinence Network, 31Dec02; AP, 2002]
