Sheryl Had an Abortion After a Brutal Rape, Says “The Abortion Just Traumatized Me Further” (2015)

Right to Life of Michigan recently published a video about a woman named Sheryl who was violently raped and became pregnant. The video is a part of a series called The Compassion Project, which features women who’ve been affected by abortion. The truth is sometimes women make the irreversible choice to have an abortion without knowing about the various side effects that decision can bring. As LifeNews previously reported, studies show that over 65% of women who have abortions suffer from post-abortive syndrome, 31% have health complications, and post abortive women are six-times more likely to commit suicide than women who give birth. Also, many women who have abortions are coerced or forced into it by parents, partners or abusers. For these women, this “choice” society brags about really isn’t one at all. In the video, Sheryl said the following about the rape and her abortion: “It was acquaintance rape and he denied everything. Next thing I know, I’m in an abortion and I just pretty much went and totally shut down. I just wish society would realize the long-term effect that abortion has on women even in the case of rape. You know, to further traumatize a woman the way I’ve been further traumatized. I just don’t want this to happen to no one else.” Thankfully, the pro-life community wants to offer hope to women who’ve been traumatized by abortion. If you are suffering from your abortion, reach out to Silent No More, Rachael’s Vineyard, and Abortion Recovery International (ARIN) to receive healing and help. Herded Like Cattle, Treated Like Dirt: "This Wasn't Really Counseling At All" (2010)

How many near to us are at risk or hurt? "I wanted so badly to talk to someone, maybe someone would say, 'Don't do it, I will help you.' … instead I was herded into a room with about 10 other girls like cattle." Certain themes run through the stories from women who've been there. Young women or vulnerable couples seeking answers, information or assistance are instead pressured, deceived or funneled toward a "one-choice" system. The research supports this. One study clearly exposed the prevalence and synergy of coercion, showing that most felt rushed or uncertain yet were given no counseling or inadequate and often false information. [ed. This has been repeatedly shown through the video and audio expose' series of Lila Rose…] SueAnn's abortion took place when she was a teen. It is not indicative of "choice" that phrases like "no time for questions," "herded like cattle" or simply "shut up" come up often in the stories of women of all ages and from all walks of life. Their realities don't fit the sanitized mantra of "choice." SueAnn's story below is one of many that reflect systemic abuse of power. Following this section, we offer links to ads and materials you can use to educate and challenge leaders in a holistic and compassionate way about abortion's exploitation of women, men and families at risk. ~~~~~ SueAnn's Story I was sent to the Family Planning Center for help. Well, they helped me all right, so much so they had me booked in for an abortion the next day. Their reasons were I could not take care of myself let...

Wade Reinforces the Need for States to Protect Women from the Risks of Abortion, Says Americans United for Life – Today, 22Feb05, the Supreme Court refused to consider a request to reconsider their judgment in Roe v. Wade, the 1973 case that legalized abortion in all 50 states for any reason at any time of pregnancy. The petition was made by Norma McCorvey, also known as Jane Roe who is the “Roe” of Roe v. Wade on whose behalf the Court sided in 1973 when making abortion legal. She had petitioned the court to reconsider its decision to make abortion legal based on more than 30 years of evidence that abortion harmed women. She asked the U.S. Supreme Court to vacate the judgment which it issued in her favor 32 years ago. Lower courts had also dismissed McCorvey’s request. McCorvey used a “Rule 60 Motion,” which Congress provides for in the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. Post-Abortive Women Made Powerful Impact at "Poor-Choice" March (4/04)

On April 25, poor-choice groups staged what was intended to be a massive demonstration in support of abortion at the National Mall in D.C. In response, a number of post-abortive women turned out to witness to the truth that abortion hurts women. The Silent No More Awareness campaign included about 35-40 post-abortive women holding signs saying, “I Regret My Abortion,” and some men holding signs saying “I Regret Lost Fatherhood.” Annie, who was in the position of holding one of the first “I Regret My Abortion” signs seen by the marchers, wrote that “nothing prepared me for literally mobs of livid people screaming the most hateful, vicious, snide things at me personally. We were spit on, and had an egg hurled at us from the marchers . . . People broke through the riot police’s invisible line just to come up in my face and hurl insulting words.” But Annie also described how one woman, seeing Annie in tears as she held her sign, looked at her and silently mouthed the words, “I’m sorry.” A college-age marcher reached out to touch her arm and say, “I’m so sorry” after Annie told him of her regret at aborting her unborn daughter 25 years ago. Another woman called out to Annie, “I regret my abortion too!” before breaking past the riot police to hug and cry with her, then disappearing again into the crowd. Other pro-life demonstrators described seeing several women among the marchers begin to weep as they saw the sign. Janet Morana of Priests for Life, a co-sponsor of the Silent No More campaign, said that a woman came...
